Daily Spread Betting Round-up
What happened in the Premier League last night?
There was only one Premier League game last night, but Southampton took full advantage to jump up to 11th place in the table, above opponents Brentford after a comfortable 4-1 win. Jan Bednarek opened the scoring after five minutes, and while Vitaly Janelt equalised, Bees keeper Alvaro Fernandez scored an unfortunate own goal in the 37th minute, and second half goals from Armando Broja and Che Adams secured the victory.
Performance Superiority Southampton/Brentford (settled at 84)
Southampton outclassed Brentford in all departments, and the Performance Superiority market showed that. This market awards points depending on performance, with 25 points for the win, 15 for a goal, 10 for a draw, 10 for a clean sheet and 3 for a corner, with -5 for a yellow card and -15 for a red. The spread was set at 14-19, so buyers won 65 times their bet.
Are Fulham finally playing football again?
Fulham showed no signs of rustiness in putting seven goals past Reading in their first game in more than three weeks. The Cottagers had seen three games in a row postponed over Christmas including this one, but in the rearranged fixture they took out their frustrations on the Royals and moved back into the automatic promotion places above Blackburn, the side Fulham also put seven past earlier in the season. Harry Wilson and Aleksandar Mitrovic both scored twice as Fulham pulled to within a point of leaders Bournemouth with Kenny Tete, Neeskens Kebano and Tosin Adarabioyo also on the scoresheet in the 7-0 win.
Total Goal Minutes x Corners (settled at 5460)
Our biggest winning football bet on Tuesday unsurprisingly came from Fulham’s 7-0 win at Reading. There were 13 corner kicks in the game, but it was the goal minutes that drove this number higher, especially given six of the seven goals were scored in the 45th minute or later. The spread was set at 1460-1560, so buyers won a juicy 3900 times their bet.
Is Ronnie O’Sullivan still in the Masters snooker?
Ronnie showed there’s life in the old dog yet with a comprehensive defeat of Jack Lisowski. The Rocket rattled in breaks of 125 and 127 on his way to a 6-1 victory that sees him through to the last eight of a tournament he’s won a record 7 times. Jackpot presented Ronnie with chance after chance, though he did notch a century of his own to win his only frame, knocking in 104 to draw level at 1-1.
Points O’Sullivan/Lisowski (settled at 444)
The so-called Class of ’92 have been on top form this week, and Ronnie joined Mark Williams and John Higgins in the last eight with a dominant performance. The six-time world champ was favourite, with the Points spread set at 142-182, but Ronnie exceeded that, scoring 262 more than his opponent and therefore winning buyers of the spread 262 times their bet.
