It was a weekend of high-quality sporting action with crucial Premier League clashes, the Six Nations getting underway, England facing India in the second Test, and the Dublin Racing Festival.

With online betting punters spoilt for choice, we have selected three markets from the major events where savvy bettors came away with a nice winner.

Please remember Spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.

ARSENAL v LIVERPOOL – CROSS-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 3300)

You got the feeling before yesterday that Arsenal’s title race might have been run if they had been beaten at the Emirates by Liverpool, but a crazy match in North London kept the Gunners in the mix.

It was a result that would no doubt have been celebrated in the blue half of Manchester as well, with Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson conspiring to gift Gabriel Martinelli a goal to put Arsenal back in front after a Gabriel own goal in similarly slapstick circumstances had levelled the match on the stroke of half time.

Leandro Trossard put the icing on the cake for Arsenal on an afternoon where referee Anthony Taylor was particularly busy with eight yellow cards shown alongside a pair for Ibrahima Konate who was sent off late on.

Before kick-off our Cross-Bookings spread was 865-1005, but with Arsenal picking up 60 points and Liverpool landing 55 points, the market settled at as 3300 as buyers on this particular football spread betting market made a handsome profit of 2295x their stake.

STEPHEN BUNTING v NATHAN ASPINALL – MULTI-LEGS (SETTLED AT 11)

Darts spread betting punters have been spoiled over the last few days with the opening night of the Premier League proceeding the opening PDC major of the year; the Masters.

Taking place in Milton Keynes, Michael van Gerwen has a stellar record in the competition, but despite making the final, the Green Machine was gunned down by Stephen ‘the Bullet’ Bunting who secured his maiden PDC major and £65,000 in prize money.

The St Helens arrowsmith had an excellent run to the final, but he perhaps saved his best for the semi-finals where he despatched World Matchplay champion Nathan Aspinall in brutal fashion. The Asp barely got a look in with Bunting hitting combination checkouts for fun as he secured a place in the final with a thumping 11-1 victory.

That was a delight for sellers on the Multi-Legs darts spread betting market which was 74-79.5 as the players took to the oche. With the market settling at just 11, sellers checked out with a win of 63x their stake.

IRISH ARKLE – MARINE NATIONALE 50-25-10 RACE INDEX (SETTLED AT 0)

As mentioned above, all eyes in the racing world were on Leopardstown this weekend for the Dublin Racing Festival and whilst a few hotpots were beaten over the two days, Marine Nationale’s performance in the Irish Arkle was perhaps the most surprising.

With two graded wins over hurdles, including the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, all looked to be going to plan for the seven-year-old when winning on chase debut in December. However, on the weekend, Michael O’Sullivan couldn’t get his mount into the winners’ enclosure after a mistake at the last and they had to settle for a disappointing fifth.

Horse racing spread betting punters who had opted to sell on our 50-25-10 race index market would not have been so disappointed however, with Marine Nationale’s failure to trouble the places ensuring the market settled at 0 against a pre-race spread of 35-38 as sellers won 35x their stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
