Weekend's Big Winning Bets

weekends-big-winning-bets-24102022-landing-page-header

Newcastle and Leicester were the big winners on Saturday as they moved into the top four and out of the relegation zone respectively. The biggest shock came in Nottingham where Forest beat Liverpool 1-0 whilst in Scotland Celtic came from behind against Hearts with Rangers unable to do the same as they drew at home to Livingston.

It was a good weekend to be an England supporter as the women’s rugby union team beat South Africa 75-0 and the men’s rugby league and cricket sides also bagged comfortable wins in their respective World Cups.

Finally, there was more end-of-season success for Aiden O’Brien on the turf as he landed the Vertem Futurity Stakes at Doncaster with Auguste Rodin. As ever after a jam-packed weekend, we bring you three big winning spread bets from the world of sport.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

AUSTRALIA v NEW ZEALAND – AUS/NZ SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT -89)

The opening match of the Super 12s was a repeat of the final in the last Cricket World Cup as Australia faced their rivals from across the Tasman to get the main part of the tournament underway.

As was the case in the 2021 final, New Zealand batted first and smashed their way to a score of 200 for the loss of just three wickets, with opener Devon Conway finishing on 92*. Such a score was always going to be a tough ask to chase down, but Australia were the pre-tournament favourites and on home soil, if anyone was to do it, it would be them.

Instead, a trifecta of good bowling, excellent fielding and some poor shot selection from the Aussies saw the hosts limp to 111 all out to blow Group 1 wide open. Australia went into the match as quite strong favourites with the Supremacy spread set at 31-39 before play began. However, New Zealand’s 89 run victory saw the market settle at -89 as sellers won 120x their stake.

RAYO VALLECANO v CADIZ – SHIRTS x BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 13455)

Spreadex offered 18 Bookings related markets on this match and buyers came out in the green in all but three of them (Cadiz Goals x Corners x Bookings resulted in a four point loss for buyers, 1-15: Bookings would have seen them lose two points and the R.V/Cad Booking Supremacy would have seen them lose 37 points) and it was a buyer’s market on Saturday.

The market we are focussing on is Shirts x Bookings but there were plenty of big wins in the less volatile markets with Bookings settling at 115 versus a spread of 63-67. With three red cards in the match, three yellows and six goals, this was a great market for those buying Shirts x Bookings.

Isi Palazon (shirt number 7) opened the scoring from the penalty spot, with Alvaro Garcia (18) adding another three minutes later. Rayo furthered their lead through Florian Lejeune (19) and Sergio Camello (34) and despite Ivan Balliu’s (20) own goal after 82 minutes, there was still time for Lejeune to double his tally as Rayo ran out 5-1 winners.

With Shirt Numbers settling at 117, the Shirts x Bookings spread settled at a whopping 13455. The spread before kick-off at the Estadio de Vallecas was 2300-2550 as buyers won 10905x their stake.

FIJI v ITALY – FIJI MULTI-POINTS (SETTLED AT 900)

Having impressed against Scotland in their opening match, there was hope that the Italians could spring another surprise on Saturday when they faced 18 point favourites Fiji at Kingston Park.

The first half saw the Fijians take control almost immediately and they raced into a 30-0 lead at the break, before nearly repeating the trick in the second half, with a Josh Maizen try for Italy the only blemish on the Bati’s record.

The Fijians had seven different tryscorers in their 60-4 win with Viliame Kikau, Penioni Tagituimua and Parramatta’s Maika Sivo all crossing for doubles in a dominant performance from the side that has reached the semi-finals in the last two tournaments. That may be beyond them this year with a likely quarter-final clash with New Zealand on the horizon, but they will have certainly enjoyed their day in Newcastle.

Buyers will have also enjoyed the Bati display with the Fiji Multi-Points market at 256-288 before kick-off and settling at 900 as buyers landed a win of 612x their stake.
