Weekend's Big Winning Bets 20.09.2022

bw-lp200922

It was another hectic (extended) weekend due to the Queen being laid to rest on Monday at her state funeral, but there was plenty of sports action before that across Saturday and Sunday.

In the football, Erling Haaland was on the scoresheet once again for Man City as they continued their ominous run of form, while Arsenal continued to set the pace at the top with a 3-0 win over Brentford. Meanwhile, Spurs heaped more misery on beleaguered Leicester with a 6-2 demolition. Across Europe there were also some notable shocks, with Serie A new boys Monza defeating Juventus, and Bayern Munich falling to a 1-0 defeat to Augsburg. In Spain there was a red card fest in La Liga, with one match of particular note for its booking points total.

In other sport, Canelo Alvarez put a full stop on his rivalry with Gennady Golovkin as he secured a dominant win in their third fight, while in the golf Cameron Smith claimed his maiden LIV title in Chicago, and the NFL returned with Josh Allen throwing four touchdown passes as the Buffalo Bills secured a dominant 41-7 win over the Tennessee Titans.

As usual, we look at three big winning spread bets bringing savvy punters joy.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

OSASUNA V GETAFE – MULTI-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 4275)

With the home side coming into the match hoping to build upon their best-ever start to a La Liga season in the 21st century after scoring 12 points from a possible 15, the match ended up being both a disappointment for them due to their 2-0 defeat, but also for the sheer number of cards shown – which certainly pleased punters.

After the first two cards were shown on the 35-minute mark (one apiece for each team), the drama began as a VAR intervention saw the first red card just before half-time for the home side. This seemed to open the floodgates of ill-discipline as the second half saw a mammoth eight bookings, including a red card right at the death for the away side.

This meant that the Multi-Bookings market would end up settling at a huge make-up of 4,275. With a pre-match opening spread of just 830 – 970, bettors who decided to buy would have been left with 3,305x their opening wager!

TOTTENHAM V LEICESTER – H.M SON (SUB) SUPER MEGA MINUTES (SETTLED AT 499)

Spurs successfully put their midweek European disappointment behind them by continuing their impressive league form, and in the process inflicted what is likely to be a terminal defeat for Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of the upcoming international break with the Foxes rock-bottom of the Premier League table.

Most of the damage was done by super-sub Heung-Min Son, who was brought on by Antonio Conte in the 59th minute and immediately seemed like he felt he had a point to prove. With the score at that stage a fairly precarious 3-2 lead for the home side, the South Korean attacker proceeded to score a hat-trick in the space of just 26 second-half minutes to secure a dominant victory.

For spread bettors looking to buy on Son’s Substitute Super Mega Minutes spread, this stood at a low 19 – 23 at the moment he was brought onto the pitch. His hat-trick meant that the final makeup was 499 though, meaning those punters would have been celebrating 476x their opening stake!

TENNESSEE @ BUFFALO – BUFFALO MULTI-POINTS (SETTLED AT 408)

Josh Allen marked his side's home NFL opener with four touchdown passes, including three to Stefon Diggs, as the Buffalo Bills managed a dominant 41-7 win over the Tennessee Titans on Monday. Allen was in impressive form and topped 300 yards passing, completing 26/38 pass attempts for 317 yards.

Diggs had a standout performance again and he managed to top 100 yards receiving in each of the first two games of the season, managing 12 catches for 148 yards here.

But where was the spread betting profit to be found? Punters wouldn’t have gone wrong if they decided to buy on the Buffalo Multi-Points market, with a 408 makeup meaning a profit of 189x from the opening spread of 189 - 219!

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
