Can Juventus tame the Barcelona beast when the 2 sides meet in the Champions League quarter-finals, at 7.45pm on BT Sport 1? The Italian champions have had a typically untroubled season so far. In Serie A they have a 6 point lead over Roma, and haven’t yielded the top spot since mid-September. In the Coppa Italia they beat Napoli (admittedly on penalties) to reach June’s final. And in the Champions League they are yet to lose a game. Juve were actually in a pretty tough group, including Europa League supremoes Sevilla, Lyon and Dinamo Zagreb. Yet Massimiliano Allegri’s side easily finished in 1st, setting up a last 16 tie against Porto, a fixture they then breezed through 3-0 on aggregate. Barcelona’s path to the quarter-finals, on the other hand, has been far more tumultuous. Though they ended up with 6 more points than Man City, Barca did suffer a 3-1 defeat when they visited the Etihad. Their last 16 1st leg against PSG was also a nightmare, leaving the Catalan colossus with a near insurmountable 4-0 deficit. Yet then they pulled off perhaps the greatest comeback in European footballing history, winning the home fixture 6-1, with 3 goals in the final 7 minutes. Both sides have a mouth-watering attack. Juve have their Argentinian double act of Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala, who head into Tuesday night at Super Mega PGMs of 28-34 and 18-22 respectively, while the visitors, of course, have MSN. Between them Messi, Suarez and Neymar have 90 goals in all competitions, and sit at Super Mega PGMs of 34-40, 26-31 and 16-20 respectively. Predictably for a face-off between two of the continent’s champions it’s too close to call, with Spreadex offering a choice Juventus/Barcelona Goal Supremacy spread of -0.1-0.1 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.55-2.75. Though the Juve/Barca game will likely draw more headlines, Monaco’s trip to Borussia Dormund, at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3, may be the more exciting fixture. The French side, currently at the top of Ligue 1, have scored 88 league goals this season, more than any of Europe’s major sides. They also managed to knock out Man City on a 6-6 away goals win, after having given Tottenham the boot in the group stages. Radamel Falcao and a potentially Premier League-bound Kylian Mbappe are the ones to watch, sitting at Super Mega PGM spreads of 27-32 and 22-27 respectively. As for Dortmund, they have some astonishing performances in the group stages, including a pair of 2-2 draws against Real Madrid (who the Germans finished ahead of by 2 points), a 6-0 away victory over Legia Warsaw and a 8-4 win in the return fixture, that latter game being the highest scoring in the history of the Champions League. In comparison their last 16 meeting with Benfica was far more tame, a 1-0 loss on the road followed by a 4-0 victory at the Signal Iduna Park. Like Monaco they have their own superstar up front, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a whopping 32 goals in all competitions to earn a huge Super Mega PGM of 72-84. This German/French exchange is going to be a disappointment if it doesn’t break the back of the net, with Spreadex offering a Total Goals spread of 3.5-3.7. As for the result, the hosts have the edge, at a Borussia Dortmund/Monaco Goal Supremacy spread of 1.05-1.25.
