Football spread betting on groups of games

But what is the spread betting equivalent to the fixed odds accumulator? Here we take a look at how to spread bet over groups of games on football.

Before you read on, remember that while spread betting on football offers the chance to make profits many times your stake should you call a bet correctly, you can also lose many times your stake should the bet go against you.

Spread betting on total goals over groups of football matches
Spreadex Total Goals Per Premier League Group Of Games By Week

When placing football spread bets over groups of matches, the markets are arranged to take in all games of a particular league or competition.

For example, Spreadex may offer markets that give a spread based on the combined outcome of the 10 matches from the weekend’s Premier League fixtures or the 40 matches of the first round of the FA Cup.

A popular bet across groups of matches is predicting the total number of goals that will be scored in all the listed games.

So Spreadex may predict that a total of between 27 and 28 goals will be scored over the 10 weekend Premier League fixtures. If you think there will be more than 28 you would buy on the spread at 28 and if you think that there will be 26 or fewer you would sell on the spread at 27.

Your profit is the number of goals difference in your favour multiplied by your stake. So a £10 a point buy of Total Goals at 28 would make £120 if 40 goals end up being scored in those matches ((40 – 28) x £10), but lose £100 if only 18 goals are scored in total from the 10 fixtures ((18 – 28) x £10).

You can also bet on Total Home Goals, Total Away Goals or Total Multi Goals (first half goals scored multiplied second half goals).

Spread betting on home teams against away teams over a group of matches

The spread betting Goal Supremacy market is the spread betting firms’ prediction of how many goals a named team will beat another by.

So betting on Goal Supremacy over a group of matches is converted into Home/Away Goal Supremacy. You may have a view of whether you think the home teams or away teams will come out on top in terms of Goal Supremacy over a set of games, depending on the fixtures.

If Spreadex had a Home/Away Goal Supremacy price of Home/Away 4 – 5 it means the traders think the home teams will end up being between four and five goals better off than the away teams.

A £10 a point sell at 4 would result in a £50 profit if the away teams actually end up with a one goal advantage overall ((4 - - 1) x £10) but would result in a £40 loss if the home teams ended up with an eight goal Supremacy ((4 – 8) x £10).

Spread betting on the number of red cards over a group of matches
Spreadex Red Cards Per Premier League Group Of Games By Week

When spread betting on Bookings during a single football match, this market is based on 10 points being awarded per yellow card and 25 per red card, with a maximum of 35 points per player.

However, when betting on the number of red cards over a group of matches this is based simply on the actual number of sendings off from those games.

So if Spreadex had a quote of 2 – 2.3 red cards from a group of 10 games it means the traders would be expecting around two red cards in total from those matches. Again, you could sell at 2 if you felt there would be 1 or 0 red cards shown or buy at 2.3 if you felt there would be three or more in total.

Spread betting on Total Goal Minutes over a group of football matches

For more extreme betting on goals over groups of games, you can try spread betting on Total Goal Minutes over specified matches.

Betting on Total Goal Minutes is based on the minutes of goals scored in a game, aggregated. So Spreadex may predict that Total Goal Minutes over 10 Premier League matches may be between 1400 and 1450.

If you bought £1 a point at 1450 and Total Goal Minutes made up at 1700 you would make £250 ((1700 – 1450) x £1), however if Total Goal Minutes made up at 1200 you would lose £250 ((1200 – 1450) x £1).

As this is one of the more volatile spread betting markets, it’s always worth calculating your potential downside from a bet to make sure you pick a suitable stake size.

Other options for betting over groups of games include Fastest Goal (makes up at 90 if no goals are scored in any of the listed matches), Goal Rush (for each game points are awarded on the amount of goals scored based on 0 = 0, 1 = 10, 2 = 20, 3 = 33, 4 = 50, 5 = 70, 6 or more = 100), Aggregate First Match Goal (the time of the First Match goal in all the games, aggregated), Total Penalties Scored, Total Penalty Goal Minutes and Total 90th Minute Goals.

So while in-play betting may still be the most popular form of spread betting on football, if you fancy something to give you an interest on more than just the one match, take a look at the Group of Games markets for the next round of fixtures involving your side.
