Can Arsenal salvage their season by continuing their winning Europa League run against CSKA Moscow, at 8.05pm on BT Sport 2?

The Gunners have looked on the ropes for much of 2018. However, they’ve definitely picked up in the last few weeks, securing a pair of victories over AC Milan in their Europa League last 16 tie alongside back-to-back 3-0 wins over Watford and Stoke. Now, they’re still way off the pace in terms of securing a place in the Champions League – at least through the Premier League route – but it’s nevertheless an improvement on the fan-infuriating form that opened the New Year.

What was especially impressive about Arsenal’s 5-1 aggregate win over AC Milan was that they did it without the cup-tied Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the then-injured Alexandre Lacazette. Danny Welbeck, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Aaron Ramsey were among those that stepped up to the plate, and sit at Super Mega PGMs of 41-48, 31-37 and 21-26 respectively. They are all outstripped by their French teammate, however, with Lacazette – who may well make his first start since January 30th – at a Super Mega PGM spread of 54-62.

As for their Russian visitors, they’ve stumbled their way through to this point in the competition. Exiting the Champions League in the group stages behind Man United and Basel, CSKA Moscow entered in the round of 32 against Red Star Belgrade, against whom they only managed to secure a narrow 1-0 aggregate win. Their last 16 bout was just as tight, with a 1-0 home defeat to Lyon overturned with a feisty 3-2 triumph in France.

Despite Arsene Wenger’s claim that his side only have a 50/50 chance of getting through to the semi-finals, our Spreadex traders have other ideas, offering an Arsenal/CSKA Moscow Goal Supremacy spread of 1.5-1.7 with a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95.
