Ahead of a huge game against Man United this Sunday, can Arsenal run over Rennes in the Europa League, at 5.55pm on BT Sport 3? Saturday’s draw against Tottenham – one that saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has a Super Mega PGM of 44-51, miss what likely what have been a game-winning penalty in the 89th minute – arguably puts even more pressure on the Gunners’ European campaign.
Arsenal are in 5th place in the Premier League, and would be leapfrogged by Chelsea if the Blues win their game in hand against Brighton. And though a win against United this weekend would do wonders for their top 4 chances, they’ll be riding high after their Parisian miracle. They could do, then, with having the Europa League as an alternative route into the Champions League next season. Rennes, mid-table in Ligue 1, scraped through the opening stages, losing 3 and winning 3 in a group that contained Dynamo Kiev, Astana and Jablonec. They were more confident in the last-32; though they twice gave up the lead in the 1st leg, a 3-1 win at Real Betis saw them pick up a 6-3 victory on aggregate. Though the same was said of the Gunners’ lifeless trip to BATE Borisov, the visitors should come out of France with the advantage. Spreadex are offering an Arsenal/Rennes (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.4-0.6 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.55-2.75. A bit later, will Chelsea’s Maurizio Sarri continue to cling on his job with a victory against Dynamo Kiev, at 8pm on BT Sport 2? With one foot in the unemployment line, Sarri bought himself some time with the Blues’ 2-0 triumph over Tottenham, following that up with a narrow 2-1 win at Fulham.
Chelsea have arguably been at their best in the Europa League. They’ve won 7 of their 8 games, the outlier being a meaningless 2-2 draw at MOL Vidi. The last-32 saw a 5-1 aggregate victory over Malmo, with both Ross Barkley and Olivier Giround scoring in each leg. As for Dynamo Kiev, they’re trailing Shakhtar Donetsk by 6 points in the Ukrainian Premier League, and weren’t too convincing in the Europa League group stages. In the last-32 they overcame Olympiacos, a late draw in Greece joined by a 1-0 win at home. Sarri should live to see another day, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/Dynamo Kiev Goal Supremacy spread of 1.5-1.7, alongside an average target price of 2.75-2.95.
