Who will be crowned snooker’s Champion of Champions come Sunday evening? Heading into the competition as favourite is Ronnie O’Sullivan, who sits at an Outright Index spread of 21.5-24.5 alongside fixed odds of 13/5 O’Sullivan qualified by winning both the Masters – for the 3rd time in 4 years, preventing Selby from nabbing the Triple Crown – back in January and the English Open in October. He did, however, have a bit of a mare at the International Championship, exiting in the 1st round. O’Sullivan faces Australia’s Neil Robertson (2017 Hong Kong Masters victor) and sits at a 10-3 Supremacy spread of 4-7. Just behind O’Sullivan is Mark Selby, at an Outright Index spread of 19.5-22.5 and fixed odds of 4/1. Selby has had quite the 12 months; at the tail end of 2016 he won the UK Championship, while in 2017 he’s picked up the China Open, World Snooker Championship and, just last weekend, the International Championship. Selby’s 1st round tie is against World Cup co-winner Liang Wenbo, with the world no. 1 at a 10-3 Supremacy spread of 6-9. Ahead of both men on the Outright Index, with a spread of 23.5-25.5, but way, way behind in terms of fixed odds, at 18/1, is Anthony Hamilton, who beat Ding Junhui on Monday to set up a 2nd round match against Ryan Day. 2017 Players Championship and European Masters winner Judd Trump isn’t far behind at 18-21 and 9/2. Trump – no relation – faces Luca Brecel on Wednesday, and sits at a healthy 10-3 Supremacy spread of 5.5-8.5. Finally, John Higgins can perhaps feel a bit hard done by with his Outright Index spread of 15-18 given that he was the 2016 Champion of Champions. Since then he’s picked up a few more trophies, namely the Championship League and Indian Open, while in May he was the beaten finalist in the World Snooker Championship. He takes on Anthony McGill Thursday, at a Higgins/McGill 10-3 Supremacy spread of 4-7.
