Can Chelsea secure the first of 2 potentially title-clinching victories when they face Middlesbrough, at 8pm on Sky Sports 1? Thanks to Tottenham following up their jubilant White Hart Lane win against Arsenal with a likely season-ending loss at West Ham, the Blues could have the league sewn up by the end of the week. If Antonio Conte’s side can take 6 points from Monday’s visit from Middlesbrough and Friday’s trip to West Brom then they will be beyond Spurs’ reach, and have the title in the bag with 2 games to spare. Conte will feel confident his team can overcome those relatively easy hurdles, especially since their 3-0 win at Everton made Chelsea the highest scoring side in the league. Diego Costa has provided just over of quarter of those goals, and heads into Monday’s game with a chunky Super Mega PGM of 63-73. Eden Hazard has been no slouch either, scoring 15 league goals to sit at a spread of 55-63; he is followed by Michy Batshuayi at 49-57, Pedro at 28-34 and Willian at 27-32. As for Middlesbrough, they desperately need an unlikely result if they are to prolong the inevitable and avoid being relegated on Monday night. There are a few straws to be grasped, however! Firstly, Chelsea have slipped up a few times against ostensibly lesser competition in the last couple of months, most notably losing 2-1 to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. Secondly, the Teeside-side have the best defence in the bottom half of the table, conceding 45 goals (only 3 fewer than Liverpool)! And thirdly, their most recent game saw Boro lead twice against Man City, admittedly for it to end with the points shared. In reality the hosts know this week is huge and are unlikely to slip up on Monday, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/Middlesbrough Goal Supremacy spread of 2.25-2.45 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.25-3.45.
