Will Tottenham resume their super-charged Champions League showing when they travel to Juventus? Spurs were arguably dealt into the group of death this season, joined by defending champions Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and APOEL. Yet not only did the North London club cope with such a formidable task, they thrived under it, finishing atop Group H unbeaten and with a 3-1 Wembley win over Cristiano Ronaldo and co. And what did they get for that triumph? A last 16 fixture against last season’s runners-up Juventus. The Italians didn’t have the easiest group themselves, finishing behind Barcelona after losing their curtain raiser at the Nou Camp. They’ve done better in Serie A, sitting 1 point behind 1st place Napoli and 14 points ahead of 3rd place Inter Milan; in comparison Tottenham 5th in the Premier League, an absurd 22 points off leaders Man City. How Tottenham’s trip to Turin turns out will likely be down to Harry Kane, and whether or not he can keep scoring. The English forward is now on 32 goals in all competitions, including 6 in Europe AND the winner against Arsenal at the weekend, and he heads into Tuesday night at a Super Mega PGM of 29-35. In comparison Juve’s Gonzalo Higuain is at 37-43, despite scoring only 18 goals across Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League. It appears that the Italians’ incredibly tight backline – Juve had conceded just 20 goals in 32 games in all competitions – has given them the edge, with Spreadex offering a Juventus/Tottenham Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.2-2.4. Elsewhere on Tuesday, Man City’s Swiss soiree against Basel is arguably less of a question of if they’ll win, but how many they’ll win by. With the Premier League basically sewn up already, and a winnable FA Cup 5ht round fixture against Wigan next Monday, City could afford to focus their efforts on Europe. Luckily it doesn’t seem like they’ll have to try too hard, with Pep Guardiola handed the easiest last 16 fixture of the 5 English sides still in contention. Though Basel did well to finish 2nd in a group consisting of Man United (who they beat in Switzerland), CSKA Moscow and Benfica, they haven’t yet faced the kind of test City will provide on Tuesday. Sergio Aguero sits at a Super Mega PGM of 70-82 after bagging 4 at the weekend, while Raheem Sterling is at 28-34 and Kevin de Bruyne is at 21-25. City’s quadruple-chasing run is unlikely to suffer a hiccup on Tuesday, with Spreadex offering a rather conclusive Man City/Basel (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.5-1.7 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.9-3.1.
