How will Leicester, Tottenham and, a bit later than expected, Manchester City fare as they begin their Champions League campaigns? Mercifully for the Foxes their first foray into Europe’s elite has seen them drawn in one of this year’s easiest groups, Leicester easing into the competition with a trip to Club Brugge at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2. As many feared Leicester haven’t gotten off to the strongest start, losing to Hull and, heavily, Liverpool while drawing against Arsenal and beating Swansea. Jamie Vardy is tentatively finding his form, his 2 goals leaving him with a Super Mega PGM of 33-39, while record signing Islam Slimani, at 21-25, is likely to make his debut in Belgium. Like Leicester Club Brugge have stumbled at the first hurdle of their title defence, with 3 losses, 2 wins and a draw already leaving them languishing behind the rest of the pack. Manager Michel Preud’homme will be eager for Abdoulay Diaby and Jelle Vossen, at Super Mega PGMs of 21-26 and 18-22 respectively, to quickly rediscover their form from last season, with both forwards yet to score in the Belgian Pro League. Only the most hardened of hearts would seek to deny Claudio Ranieri and co. the continuation of a fairytale that has seemingly begun to sour domestically. It’s not going to be easy, however, with Spreadex offering a tight Leicester/Club Brugge (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.05-0.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.35-2.55. While not quite as stodgy as at the start of last season the first handful of Premier League games hasn’t seen Tottenham at their best; they host Monaco (well sort of, the game’s at Wembley) at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3. Draws against Everton and Liverpool are decent results; a late 1-0 win over Crystal Palace less so. Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping, however, that last weekend’s 4-0 victory over Stoke, which came complete with the 1st goal of the season from Harry Kane (who has a Super Mega PGM of 48-56) has sufficiently swept away the cobwebs ahead of their first Champions League game since 2011. Defeating Fenerbahce and Villareal on the way to the competition is nothing to be sniffed at. Combine that with a Ligue 1 topping start to the season and Monaco are in a good place heading into their UCL opener. On the negative side Falcao hasn’t made too much of an impact since returning on loan from Chelsea, even if he does have the club’s best Super Mega PGM spread of 20-24. With Saturday’s return to form at the back of their minds Spurs shouldn’t have too many problems on Wednesday evening, Spreadex offering a Tottenham/Monaco Goal Supremacy spread of 0.7-0.9 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.55-2.75. Finally, with torrential rain shifting the match forward by 24 hours Manchester City belatedly take on Borussia Monchengladbach at 7.45pm on BT Sport ESPN. City will be flying high heading into Wednesday’s game; the only unbeaten team left in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola took the first scalp of this season’s Manchester war with a confident win over Mourinho’s United. Kevin de Bruyne (who has a Super Mega PGMs of 33-39) was the standout, leading the charge in Sergio Aguero’s absence. The Argentinian ace will be looking to make up for lost time if his Super Mega PGM is anything to go by, heading into the rescheduled match with a whopping spread of 75-87. City will also take confidence from the fact that they did the double over Monchengladbach at this stage of the competition last season. The German club haven’t got off to the greatest start, a win over Bayer Leverkusen followed by a 3-1 loss to SC Freiburg (though they did win their 1st round DFB-Pokal fixture against SV Drocktersen/Assel). Guardiola will be looking for another convincing victory on Wednesday and, especially after the postponement, things look likely to go his way, our traders offering a Manchester City/Borussia Monchengladbach Goal Supremacy spread of 1.5-1.7 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.4-3.6.
