Already the 2017/18 FA Cup has produced a fair few shocks – what will this weekend’s 5th round fixtures have in store? With one eye on their visit from Barcelona next Tuesday, Friday night sees Chelsea host Hull at 8pm on BT Sport 2. The Blues have already played once this weekend, coming out of Monday’s game against West Brom with a much-needed, and cathartic, 3-0 win that saw them shift back into 4th. Eden Hazard was at the forefront of that victory, and heads into Friday’s fixture at a Super Mega PGM of 54-62, trailing Alvaro Morata at 58-68 and Olivier Giroud at 62-72. Hull, meanwhile, are doing their darndest to try and stay in the Championship. Success in the FA Cup aside the Tigers have been woeful this season, with last Saturday’s win over Nottingham Forest their first league victory since 9th December. It’s going to take a lot for them to come out the other side of this tie unscathed, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/Hull Goal Supremacy spread of 2.1-2.3 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.1-3.3. Saturday then sees a chance for Swansea to continue their 2018 recovery when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday at 12.30pm on BT Sport 2. The Swans have looked like a different side since Carlos Carvalhal took over: under his guidance they’ve lost just once in 11 games in all competitions, crawling out of the relegation zone to now sit in 16th (admittedly just 1 point above the drop). They even beat Notts County 8-1 in their 4th round replay, with youngster Tammy Abraham – who has a Super Mega PGM of 31-37 – scoring a brace. While Swansea have endured a drama-filled season, Sheffield Wednesday have had to settle for something slightly less exciting. Stuck in the middle of the Championship, likely safe from relegation but way off the play-off places, Wednesday could finally have something to cheer about if they can scalp the Swans. It’s going to be tight, however, with Spreadex offering a Swansea/Sheffield Wednesday (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.15-0.35 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.3-2.5. Heading into Saturday evening and an under-pressure Huddersfield host Manchester United at 5.30pm on BT Sport 2. Before Sunday’s impressive 4-1 win over Bournemouth, the Terries had lost 5 league games in a row, a run that leaves them lurking just outside the relegation zone. They’ve been better in the FA Cup – obviously – but even then they required a 4-1 after extra time victory over Birmingham in the previous round to progress. As for United, their very, very slim title hopes suffered what is likely the final, fatal blow last weekend, a 1-0 loss to Newcastle that leaves them 16 points adrift of Manchester City. The FA Cup and Champions League – they face Sevilla next week – are now United’s only realistic chances for any silverware this season, and they’ll be looking to take a bite out of the Terriers, at a Manchester United/Huddersfield (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.15-1.35 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.65-2.85. Finally, fresh from a tight contest in Turin, Tottenham visit Rochdale on Sunday, at 4pm on BBC One. Spurs can feel aggrieved that they only came away from their Champions League last 16 1st leg against Juventus, after bouncing back from a 2-0 deficit with aplomb. They’ll be looking to carry that momentum into Sunday afternoon, something that shouldn’t be hard given they are facing a side stuck in League One’s relegation zone. To be honest Rochdale have done well to get this far. They’ve been in the competition since the 1st round, beating Bromley, Slough Town, Doncaster Rovers and Millwall on route to their most high profile fixture in a while. Sunday might be where things come to an end, however, with Spreadex offering a Tottenham/Rochdale (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 2.15-2.35 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.15-3.35.
