Tottenham have tended to struggle in the ostensible home setting of Wembley – how will they cope with the majesty of Real Madrid’s Bernabeu, at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2? Spurs finally secured their first league win at Wembley this weekend, a narrow 1-0 affair against the relegation zoned Bournemouth. That’s not exactly a barnstorming precursor to the side’s Tuesday trip to Madrid, easily the most intimidating of their Champions League fixtures this season. Still, Tottenham acquitted themselves well when they hosted Borussia Dortmund this time last month, with that 3-1 win – and the 3-0 victory against APOEL in Cyprus – leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s men on the same 5 points (and the same goal difference) as Real. They also have an incredibly in-form Harry Kane, whose 11 goals – 6 in the league, 5 in Europe (and that’s not to mention 4 goals in 4 games for England) – leaves him not only near the top of Real Madrid’s transfer target list, but at a Super Mega PGM spread of 36-42. As for the Spanish giants, they haven’t been quite as wild as usual. Now, they’ve still won both the Supercopa de Espana (against Barcelona) and the UEFA Super Cup (against Man United), and have only lost 1 game in all competitions. However, that home defeat to Real Betis, alongside home draws against Valencia and Levante, means a) they are 3rd in La Liga, 5 points off Barca, and b) there are some chinks in the Bernabeu’s battlements. Even Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t been eating teams alive – while he has an astonishing Super Mega PGM of 82-97, it took him until Saturday to score his first La Liga goal of the season. If Spurs can get a result on Tuesday night it will do wonders for their season, domestically and in Europe. It’s a tall order, however, with Spreadex offering a Real Madrid/Tottenham Goal Supremacy spread of 1.25-1.45 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.35-3.55. Elsewhere, a rampant Manchester City host Napoli at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3. City are in the midst of a truly absurd run of form. In 12 games in all competitions – that’s the Premier League, Champions League and EFL Cup – they’ve scored 37 goals while conceding just 5. God, in their last 5 league games alone they’ve scored 24 goals, most recently beating Stoke 7-2. Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling have each scored 7 goals, and sit at Super Mega PGMs of 56-66, 54-62 and 21-26 respectively. And that’s not to mention Leroy Sane, who has 6 goals and a spread of 22-27. Napoli are almost as impressive. They sit atop Serie A with 8 wins from 8 games, with 25 scored and 5 conceded. And in Dries Mertens they have a player to rival City’s front 3, with the Belgian on 9 goals and a Super Mega PGM of 28-34. The Italian side admittedly haven’t been at their best in Europe, however, losing at Shakhtar Donetsk before beating Feyenoord at home. That should give the hosts the advantage, with Spreadex offering a Manchester City/Napoli Goal Supremacy spread of 0.95-1.15 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.3-3.5. Finally, Liverpool have an eminently winnable game against NK Maribor, at 7.45pm on BT Sport ESPN. The Reds had to grind out a 0-0 draw against Man United on Saturday, after Jose Mourinho seemed to purposefully kill the game dead. It was the latest damp squib result for Anfield’s finest, who have 3 wins 3 draws and a loss in 8 league games. They’ve been just as frustrated in Europe, first with a 2-2 draw against Sevilla, where Roberto Firmino – who has a Super Mega PGM of 54-62 – missed a penalty, then with a 1-1 draw in Spartak Moscow. They could do, then, with a cathartic result, something they may get against their Slovenian hosts, with Spreadex offering a Liverpool/Maribor (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 2.1-2.3 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.25-3.45.
