Conjuring memories of last summer’s senior team flop at the Euros, England face Slovakia at 5pm on Sky Sports 1, realistically needing all 3 points if they are to progress to the knockouts.

And lest you think the Young Lions did well to get a point off the defending champions, Sweden now have a meagre Outright Index spread of 4-6 compared to England’s 15-18 (for a bit more context Spain are favourites with a spread of 44-47).

Meanwhile Slovakia managed to upset hosts Poland despite being a goal down within the opening minute. Mid-way through the first half Martin Valjent equalised, before Pavel Safranko, who has a Super Mega PGM of 12-16, came off the bench to give Slovakia the winner 12 minutes before the final whistle. That’s allowed the Eastern European side to nudge ahead of England on the Outright Index, now sitting at 18-21.

With Gareth Southgate having been at training this week there is extra incentive – not that it should be needed – for England’s youngster to try and stand out this evening.
