The Premier League season is at its end, and all that is left to decide is who joins Chelsea and Tottenham in the Champions League next year. Let’s go in order of who needs to do the least to qualify. All Manchester City need– and this is a big ask – is a draw against Watford at Vicarage Road. Pep Guardiola’s side are currently in 3rd place on 75 points, and will only miss out on Europe’s top competition if they lose, and Arsenal win, substantially enough to erase the 5 strong goal difference that exists between the 2 sides. In contrast there is nothing for Watford to play for, though, if they do beat City, the Hornets could jump from 16th to 12th dependant on the results of Burnley, Stoke, Crystal Palace and West Ham. Given the disparate levels of importance for the two teams this could be very one-sided, with Spreadex offering a Manchester City/Watford (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 1.8-2 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.3-3.5. Next up are Liverpool, who ideally need to beat the already-relegated Middlesbrough to secure a Champions League spot. A draw or loss, however, would leave them at the mercy of the Gunners, who would leapfrog Jurgen Klopp and co. if they win on Sunday. Anfield hasn’t been much of a fortress in the 2017; since the year began Liverpool have won less than half of the games they have played at home, the ground being the site of numerous embarrassments like the losses against Swansea and Palace, and the draw against Bournemouth. Though they may have not finished in last place, you could make the argument that Middlesbrough are the worst side in the league due to the fact that they have won the fewest games – just 5 all season. And only one of those victories came against an top 10 opponent (Bournemouth), meaning they don’t stand much chance of a surprise on Sunday, with Spreadex offering a Liverpool/Middlesbrough Goal Supremacy spread of 2.45-2.65 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.35-3.55. Finally we get to Arsenal, who face the toughest challenge in both what they need to happen to qualify, and the side they face in their final game. The Gunners host Everton, who are safely ensconced in 7th place with a spot in next season’s Europa League guaranteed. The Toffees will want to prove their European credentials, however, while Romelu Lukaku is still chasing the Golden Boot despite being overtaken by Harry Kane on Thursday. Even if the Gunners win at the Emirates on Sunday that might not be enough; for them to reach the Champions League they need either City or, ideally, Liverpool to drop points, otherwise Wenger’s two decade run of top flight European football comes to an end. All the hosts can do is try and ensure all 3 points, with Spreadex offering an Arsenal/Everton Goal Supremacy spread of 1.4-1.6 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.35-3.55.
