The weekend’s Premier League action gets off to a fairly inauspicious start on Saturday, when Fulham host Watford at 12.30pm on Sky Sports. Up until last weekend the Hornets had looked far better than anyone had expected. And while wins over Brighton, Burnley and Crystal Palace weren’t a huge shock, their 2-1 victory at home to Tottenham – coming back from a 54th minute own goal from Abdoulaye Doucoure – was something of a surprise to say the least. Sadly there was a return to the historical pecking order last Saturday, a 2-1 defeat to Man United spoiling their spotless record. Fulham’s return to the top flight, meanwhile, hasn’t been without its stresses. Their curtain-raising loss to Crystal Palace was less than ideal, as was a follow-up defeat at Tottenham. A 4-2 win over Burnley and a 2-2 draw at Brighton then suggested the Cottagers might have enough to avoid the drop, while a 3-0 dumping at Man City was pretty much as expected. It remains to be seen how much of a knock the visitors’ loss to United was, with Spreadex offering a Fulham/Watford Goal Supremacy spread of 0.05-0.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95. Things then heat up on Saturday afternoon, as Tottenham attempt to overturn their recent losing streak when they travel to Brighton at 5.03pm on BT Sport 1. After a strong start, it’s all gone Pete Tong for Spurs. A loss to Watford was an unexpected blow, and while the subsequent defeat to Liverpool is nothing to be ashamed it, that doesn’t make it hurt any less. Most frustrating was the mid-week slip up against Inter Milan, Tottenham blowing their lead in the final 6 minutes to come away with nothing. Victory over Man United aside, the Seagulls have looked pretty lacklustre, with losses to Watford and Liverpool, and (late) back-to-back 2-2 draws against Fulham and Southampton. This weekend’s fixture arguably provides Spurs with a chance to reset, Spreadex offering a Tottenham/Brighton (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.7-0.9 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.65-2.85. Moving to Sunday and an unbeaten Chelsea will be looking to pick up the honours in their London derby against West Ham, at 1.30pm on Sky Sports. Overcoming a Community Shield defeat to Man City, the Blues have looked mighty impressive, with 5 wins on the trot in the Premier League and a win against PAOK in the Europa League. And in Eden Hazard they have the league’s top scorer to far, the Belgian nabbing 5 goals in his last 3 games. In contrast it took until last weekend for West Ham to pick up their first win of the season, a 3-1 away victory at Everton/ Before that things were looking pretty bad, with the Hammers not only losing against top tiers teams like Liverpool and Arsenal, but against their ostensible league peers Bournemouth and Wolves. It looks like it could be a return to those worrisome ways on Sunday, with Spreadex offering a Chelsea/West Ham (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.95-1.15 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.05-3.25. Finally, can Arsenal continue to build up a head of steam when they host Everton at 4pm on Sky Sports? Though not a kind start to the season fixtures-wise, Unai Emery would have wanted more from his first couple of Premier League games than a pair of losses to Man City and Chelsea. Since then things have gradually gotten better, with unconfident wins over West Ham, Cardiff and Newcastle followed by a 4-2 victory against Vorskla Poltava in Europe. The Toffees, meanwhile, haven’t looked promising. Wins over Southampton, in the league, and Rotherham, in the EFL Cup, have been the highlights, those results joined by draws against Wolves, Bournemouth and Huddersfield, and a loss to West Ham. That’s not great form heading into Sunday, and leaves Spreadex offering an Arsenal/Everton Goal Supremacy spread of 1.25-1.45 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3.35-3.55.
