How will a Mohamed-Salah led Liverpool fare as the Egyptian takes on his old club Roma in their Champions League semi-final, at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2? While Salah was good for Roma, scoring 34 goals in 83 appearances, he has been simply electric for Liverpool, racking up 41 goals in a mere 46 games. He’s also the first forward to break the 30 goal mark in a single Premier League season since Luis Suarez did the same for the Reds back in 2013/14, a stat that makes him more than a worthy winner of the PFA Player of the Year award and the recipient of an even higher honour – a Spreadex Super Mega PGM spread of 61-71! Still, it’s not just the Egyptian who has been lighting up the scoreboards. Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have both put a shift in during Liverpool’s so far unbeaten Champions League campaign. Mane, who has a Super Mega PGM of 31-37, was instrumental in the club’s 5-0 last 16 win over Porto, scoring a hat-trick in the away leg. Meanwhile Firmino, who has a spread of 33-39, bagged 6 in 6 during the group stages and put a cherry of top of the quarter-final victory over Man City. Roma, who face a battle with Lazio and Inter Milan to hold onto the 3rd place spot in Serie A, haven’t had the smoothest journey to this point in the competition. Though they managed to top Group C, ahead of Chelsea and Atletico Madrid (the latter of whom the Italians never actually beat), they had a bit of a wobble in the last 16, losing their 1st leg to Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1. However a 1-0 win at home saw them go through on away goals, a trick they managed to repeat in the quarter-finals. Things were looking pretty damn bleak following their trip to Barcelona, with Roma coming away with heavy 4-1 defeat (complete with 2 own goals). Yet that late strike from Edin Dzeko – who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 21-26 – proved to be crucial. Roma were a completely different side in the 2nd leg, pulling off a 3-0 great escape to reach their first European semi-final for 27 years. Despite their remarkable comeback against Barca, Eusebio Di Francesco’s side have been incredibly ropey on the road, winning just one of their 5 away ties. That explains why the hosts are so heavily favoured, at a Liverpool/Roma Goal Supremacy spread of 1.2-1.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 3-3.2.
