Things kick off with a biggie, as Premier League title holders Man City take on losing Champions League finalists Liverpool at 1.05am on LFCTV. Neither side has had the best start to the Cup, with both losing their openings games to Borussia Dortmund Obviously the most exciting part of these friendlies is to see new signings in action. Naby Keita impressed for Liverpool against Dortmund, while Fabinho should get another chance to shine after disappointing against Chester. It’s likely too early, however, to see Xherdan Shaqiri or Alisson. As for City, Riyad Mahrez is the only first team arrival, making his debut in that losing effort against Dortmund. With Mo Salah and Sadio Mane returning to the squad, the Reds have the edge, at a Liverpool/Man City Goal Supremacy spread of 0.55-0.75 alongside a promising average target price of 3.1-3.3. It’s then an Italian test for Tottenham, as they face Roma at 3.05am on Premier Sports. This is the first major test for Spurs, having beaten Southend and Brentford last week, and they go into the game without any newbies to blood in. If anything they’ll be concerned about players going the other way, with reports suggesting Real Madrid might put in a bid for captain Hugo Lloris. Roma, meanwhile, have been very active in the transfer market, bringing in Justin Kluivert, Javier Pastore, Davide Santon, Nicolo Zaniolo and Robin Olsen – among others – to replace the departed Radja Nainggolan and Alisson. Flush with new players to test out the Serie A bronze medallists will be looking to build some momentum ahead of games against Barcelona and Real Madrid, with Spreadex offering a Roma/Tottenham Goal Supremacy spread of 0.2-0.4 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.9-3.1. Moving on and Manchester United are in Carson, Los Angeles to tackle AC Milan, at 4.05am on MUTV. United were busy before and during the World Cup, securing the services of the 19-year-old Diago Dalot from Porto and Shaktar Donetsk midfielder Fred; since then, however, they’ve gone quiet, their one signing being the practical purchase of Lee Grant from Stoke. Milan’s main signing so far has been Nikola Kalinic, the man who left the Croatian squad during the World Cup, though that deal was in place after he came on loan from Fiorentina last season. There’s not much in it given United’s recent performances – draws against Club America and the San Jose Earthquakes – with Spreadex offering a Man United/AC Milan Goal Supremacy spread of 0.05-0.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.75-2.95. Finally Arsenal try and do what they couldn’t in last season’s Europa League and beat Atletico Madrid, at 12.35pm on Premier Sports. Unai Emery hasn’t been shy about strengthening the Gunners, bringing in Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi. They’re the kind of unflashy, defensively-minded signings Arsenal have been lacking for years, and gives the club a former Dortmund spine with Papastathopoulos joining Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Though they’ve taken former-Arsenal target Thomas Lemar from Monaco, and Rodri from Villarreal, Atletico’s biggest news is that they’ve managed to keep hold of Antoine Griezmann. Nevertheless Gunners look set to get revenge for last season’s European loss, at an Arsenal/Atletico Madrid Goal Supremacy spread of 0.25-0.45 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.6-2.8.
