How will Chelsea, Man United and Celtic fare with a trio of potentially tricky Champions League fixtures? The Premier League champions have the toughest task, a trip to Atletico Madrid’s new Wanda Metropolitano Stadium at 7.45pm on BT Sport 2. Chelsea’s shock opening loss to Burnley certainly seems to have spurred them into action, the club winning 6 of their last 7 games in all competitions. That run has included a Wembley victory against Tottenham, a 5-1 EFL Cup palette cleanser against Nottingham Forest and, a fortnight ago, a 6-0 hammering of Qarabag in the Champions League. Most recent was a 4-0 stomping of Stoke, in which Alvaro Morata scored his first Chelsea hat-trick, leaving the Spaniard with a Super Mega PGM of 19-23. Atletico – who actually just completed the signing of Diego Costa on Tuesday – can go one better, however. They are yet to lose a game this season, though that achievement is somewhat lessened by the fact they’ve drawn 3 in 8. One of those came against Roma, a snore draw in which the likes of Antoine Griezmann (who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 31-37) and Kevin Gameiro (at 20-24) couldn’t break down the hosts’ back line. They might have more success on Wednesday, however, with Spreadex offering an Atletico/Chelsea Goal Supremacy spread of 0.3-0.5 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.15-2.35. Like Liverpool on Tuesday, Man United travel to Moscow for their next game, taking on CSKA at 7.45pm on BT Sport 3. Unlike the Reds, United will be hoping for a far better result than the 1-1 draw Klopp and co. managed against Spartak. Jose Mourinho’s men have looked monstrous in places; they haven’t lost a game, and in 8 appearances have conceded just thrice. Romelu Lukaku has been key to this success – the Belgian has 8 in 8, and a healthy Super Mega PGM of 44-51. Whatever United manage on Wednesday they’ll have to do it without Fellaini, Carrick and Pogba, all of whom are out injured. As for CSKA, Russian Premier League runners-up got their European campaign proper off to a strong start earlier in the month, beating Benfica 2-1 in Portugal. United will want to watch out for Vitinho, who sits at a Super Mega PGM of 16-20 and is CSKA’s top scorer with 4 goals. Not that the visitors should have too many problems; they sit at a Man United/CSKA Moscow (h) Goal Supremacy spread of 0.75-0.95 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.25-2.45. Finally can Celtic recover from their PSG-hammering and pick up an away win in Anderlecht, at 7.45pm on BT Sport ESPN? The Bhoys were absolutely humiliated in their opening group game, taken apart by Edison Cavani, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe with a late own goal by Mikael Lustig capping off a miserable 5-0 loss. At least the Scots have been smashing it domestically, most recently brushing aside Rangers in Saturday’s Old Firm derby. Scott Sinclair’s also been on fire, his 9 goals in 14 games leaving him with a Super Mega PGM of 16-20. Leigh Griffith is ahead of the midfielder at 27-32, the same spread as Moussa Dembele, who could make an appearance from the bench. While not quite as bad as Celtic’s PSG-induced nightmare, Anderlecht can’t have enjoyed their 3-0 loss against Bayern Munich. They’ve also looked a bit limp in the league, with 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses. Despite the competition having barely begun, it’s not a stretch to say these 2 sides are basically battling for a spot in the Europa League. Whoever wins tonight will get a leg up in that race, with Spreadex offering an Anderlecht/Celtic Goal Supremacy spread of 0.05-0.25 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.7-2.9.
