Can Tottenham keep up their top 4 push when they host Man United at 8pm on BT Sport 1? Despite being technically unbeaten since their 4-1 thwacking at the hands of Man City in mid-December, it’ll be hard for Spurs’ fans not be a tad disappointed in how Tottenham have performed of late. Since the New Year began they’ve picked up league wins over Swansea and Everton, and an FA Cup 3rd round victory against Wimbledon; however, they’ve also drawn against West Ham and Southampton, while they required an 82nd minute equaliser from Harry Kane to secure a 4th round cup replay against League Two’s Newport County. That replay couldn’t come at a worse time for Spurs. In the fortnight following tonight’s visit from Man United Tottenham face Liverpool, Newport, Arsenal and Juventus, a run that may well make or break their season. The games against Liverpool and Arsenal will be particularly important given that Spurs are in 5th, with the Reds 5 points ahead in 4th and the Gunners 3 points behind in 6th but with both sides having played one more game than Wembley’s temporary tenants. At least Harry Kane has remained consistent. He has 6 goals in 6 2018 games, and 30 goals in total, in all competitions, and sits at a Super Mega PGM of 44-51. Trailing Kane by some way is Fernando Llorente – he has just 2 goals since signing over summer – at 21-26, Son Heung-Min at 19-23 and Dele Alli at 15-19. As for United, they’ve have a very similar run of form to Spurs, with just one loss – their shock EFL Cup quarter-final defeat to Bristol City – in their last 11 games. And while they ended 2017 with 3 consecutive league draws, in 2018 they’ve certainly impressed, scoring 12 goals in 5 games (3 league, 2 FA Cup) without letting their own net bulge once. Of course, the last few weeks have been more notable for United’s off, rather than on, the pitch dealings, with headlines dominated by the Alexis Sanchez transfer saga. The Chilean made his club debut against Yeovil at the weekend, and is set to get his first Premier League start this evening – he sits at a Super Mega PGM of 18-22, behind Romelu Lukaku at 21-26. Last time these sides met things were mighty, the only different being an 82nd minute strike from Anthony Martial – things are likely to be just as tight this time out, with Spreadex offering a Kane-assisted Tottenham/Manchester United Goal Supremacy spread of 0.1-0.3 alongside a Total Goals spread of 2.55-2.75.
