HORSE RACING – DANTE FESTIVAL

Attention for horse racing betting punters this week will focus on York where the three-day Dante Festival takes place. Starting tomorrow (Wednesday), there are four Group 2 races, including the Yorkshire Cup and Dante Stakes, and a Group 3 for punters to enjoy this week.

The Lion In Winter is currently the 11/4 favourite for the Derby and Aiden O’Brien’s colt will likely run in the Dante Stakes on Thursday with Karl Burke saddling a third of the runners in Wednesday’s Duke Of York.

On Friday, Kyprios will look to land the third Saval Beg Levmoss Stakes at Leopardstown, before the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes headlines the weekend. The current favourite to land the spoils at Newbury is Richard Hannon’s Rosallion at 11/4, with Dancing Queen priced at 11/4 and Notable Speech at 4/1.

FOOTBALL – FOOTBALL LEAGUE PLAY-OFFS

Principal partners Sunderland are in action this evening as they look to make it to Wembley in the Championship play-offs. A 2-1 lead over Coventry from the first leg will give the Mackems plenty of hope, but Cov boss Frank Lampard has been here before when his Derby side secured a famous comeback win over Leeds United six years ago.

Tonight’s match at the Stadium Of Light sees the hosts priced at 13/10 with the draw at 23/10 and a Coventry win at 23/10. Wimbledon’s clash with Notts County rounds off the semi-finals on Saturday lunchtime.

GOLF – USPGA CHAMPIONSHIP

The second major of the year is upon us as the great and the good of the golfing world head to Quail Hollow in North Carolina for the PGA Championship.

It will come as no surprise to see Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler head the market with McIlroy half a point shorter at 9/2 than his American rival after glory in the Masters. The big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau is 7/1 and you have to go all the way down to 16/1 before you get to Justin Thomas with Jon Rahm priced up at 18/1. There has never been an English winner of the PGA Championship, which perhaps explains why Tommy Fleetwood is a 33/1 shot with Tyrell Hatton chalked up at 50/1 alongside popular Irishman Shane Lowry.
