Bets Of The Week

Football, Grand Slam tennis, and international cricket are the sporting highlights this week as we look at some potential betting angles.

The below prices are indicative and may be subject to fluctuation

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

FOOTBALL – SALFORD CITY v LEEDS UNITED

The Carabao Cup second round gets underway this evening with the Sky Sports cameras travelling to the Peninsula Stadium for Salford City’s clash with Leeds United. The Whites head into this clash as 3/5 favourites with Salford at 15/4 and the draw at 3/1.

Former Leeds man Matt Smith will lead the line for Salford and the big striker is 16/5 to score anytime, boosted from 13/5 whilst United schemer Joe Gelhardt is 11/8 from 23/20 to hit the back of the net.

In the spread betting markets Total Goals is 2.95-3.15 and with rotation likely to be the order of the day for both sides, Shirt Numbers will be an interesting market with the spread currently at 59-63.

FOOTBALL – PSV v RANGERS

For the second year running Rangers head to Eindhoven looking to make the Champions League group stages having drawn 2-2 at Ibrox. The Scottish giants twice took the lead but were pegged back by their Dutch counterparts who are 1/4 to qualify from this one.

A famous win for Rangers is 23/5 whilst the Gers are 14/5 to make it consecutive years in the Champions League group stages.

With four goals scored last week, it is not surprising to see that the Total Goals spread has been set at 3.05-3.25 and Total Goal Minutes is also high at 158-168. Would you be a buyer or seller in our goals spreads on Wednesday?

CRICKET – ENGLAND v NEW ZEALAND

If Champions League qualification doesn’t tickle your fancy on Wednesday, England are back in action when they take on New Zealand in Durham.

The World Champions are 4/9 favourites to begin this four-match series with a win whilst the tourists are 7/4. In 2019, England headed south for a five-match series in New Zealand and they beat the Black Caps 3-2 across those games with one win each since then.

In the spread betting markets, our early Supremacy line is up and England are the 18-26 favourites. In this spread, you are awarded one point for every run won by and ten points for every wicket won by. A five-wicket win for England would see the spread settle at 50 but the same winning margin for the Black Caps would see the spread settle at -50.

TENNIS – US OPEN

The US Open continues this week and Novak Djokovic is the 11/10 outright favourite on the men’s side of the draw having despatched Alexandre Muller in straight sets this morning. Carlos Alcaraz will take to the court in the small hours of tomorrow morning and the Spaniard is 15/8 to land the title in New York.

With the British men very much amongst the outsiders, one of the ways to get behind them is by looking at the Quarter 1 market. Dan Evans, Cam Norrie, and Andy Murray all find themselves in that bracket and they are 18/1, 33/1, and 50/1 respectively to reach the semi-finals.

On the women’s side of the draw, Katie Boulter is 500/1 to land the title, but she should make it through to the second round, with the 27-year-old a warm 8/15 favourite in her clash with France’s Diane Parry.
