Spread Bets Of The Day
Fans rejoice! With the return of the Bundesliga this weekend there is top flight football for the first time since early March. But ahead of the restart, what exactly should you be looking out for? Borussia Dortmund v Schalke – 2.30pm Saturday, BT Sport 1The pick of the 2.30pm kick-offs on Saturday is the Revierderby, with Borussia Dortmund hosting Schalke on BT Sport 1. Dortmund are going into the restart in 2nd place, 4 points adrift of regular title rivals Bayern Munich. Inconsistency means they have struggled to get beyond that – not since the 2nd week of the season has Lucien Favre’s side been at the top of the table. They were on a solid run before the season came to a halt, however, with 4 victories in a row and only one goal conceded. The club’s main talking point in 2020 was the signing of Erling Braut Haaland, one of the savviest bits of business in years. The teen sensation – who got a hat-trick in his league debut – has 9 Bundesliga goals in 8 appearances, and 12 in 11 in all competitions. He is undoubtedly the one to watch, though he does have competition from Jadon Sancho, who remains Dortmund’s top scorer this season with 17 goals in all competitions. As for Schalke, they face a job clinging onto 6th place. They’re 10 points off Bayer Leverkusen in 5th, and have Wolfsburg, Freiburg and Hoffenheim breathing down their necks. Last time the 2 sides met at the end of October, the match ended in a goalless draw. With Haaland involved it is unlikely to be the case on Saturday, with Spreadex offering a Total Goals spread of 2.9-3.1 alongside a Dortmund/Schalke Goal Supremacy spread of 1.1-1.3. RB Leipzig v Freiburg – 2.30pm Saturday, BT Sport 2German football’s consistent overperformers RB Leipzig host Freiburg at 2.30pm on BT Sport 2 this Saturday. The Red Bulls will be disappointed that they’ve let Bayern and Dortmund get ahead of them. Up until the end of January Leipzig were in 1st place, only to slip down to 3rd place by the time the season was stopped. They’ve only won 2 of their last 7 Bundesliga matches, drawing 4 and losing 1. In Timo Werner, however, they have the league’s 2nd top scorer. The German 24-year old has 21 goals in 25 apperaances, with a further 6 goals across the DFB-Pokal and Champions League. Freiburg, meanwhile, are one of those sides chasing the league’s 2nd Europa League qualifying spot. In 8th place, they are only a solitary point behind Schalke – a result this weekend, then, could lift them into 6th. When these sides met in October, Freiburg actually pulled off a shock 2-1 victory. With the hosts looking to get revenge, Spreadex is offering a rather large RB Leipzig/Freiburg Goal Supremacy spread of 1.5-1.7, alongside a Total Goals spread of 3-3.2. Union Berlin v Bayern Munich – 5pm Sunday, BT Sport 1With 7 consecutive title wins under their belt, it looked like Bayern Munich were finally going to see their iron grip at the top of German football come to an end – now they sit 4 points clear heading into Sunday’s match at Union Berlin, at 5pm on BT Sport 1. It took until February 1st for Bayern to claw their way back to the top. But they were in scary good form before the break – unbeaten in 11 Bundesliga matches, with 10 wins and 1 draw. They comeback is in large part thanks to the remarkable consistency of Robert Lewandowski. Only Lazio’s Ciro Immobile has more goals in Europe this season than the Polish ace, who has scored 39 total and 25 in the Bundesliga. Union Berlin, promoted via the play-offs in 2018/19, are having a solid inaugural season in the German top flight – at the very least they look likely to stay up, sitting 8 points above Fortuna Dusseldorf in 16th. However they face a mighty task in taking on Bayern this Sunday, even if they did keep the scoreline to just 2-1 back in October. Spreadex is offering a huge Bayern/Union Berlin (h) Goal supremacy spread of 2-2.2, alongside a similarly promising Total Goals spread of 3.25-3.45.
