Spread Bets Of The Day
A chance for Gabriel Martinelli to shine in the FA Cup, and Australian Open quarter-finals for Ashleigh Barty and Novak Djokovic all feature in the Spread Bets of the Day! 1. Bournemouth v Arsenal – Gabriel Martinelli SMM, 25-30Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal haven’t gained the killer edge they lacked when Unai Emery was in charge. Instead of a new manager bounce, the former club captain has overseen 4 draws in 7 games, including 3 on the trot in the league – a situation not helped by the suspension of top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Interestingly, Arteta’s first game in charge was a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. The Spaniard is presented with a do-over on Monday night, as the Gunners travel to Dean Court once again for the 4th round of the FA Cup. If you think we’re in for a repeat of that fixture, then take a look at a Match to be drawn binary spread of 22.2-26.4. That Boxing Day stalemate also saw 7 yellow cards – Arsenal are the dirtiest side in the league – so a Bookings spread of 35-39 could be worth a watch. Given Aubameyang got the equaliser in that game, Arsenal need to find a new source of goals on Tuesday. Luckily it seems 18-year old Gabriel Martinelli is ready to step up, scoring in his last 2 appearances for the club. So, despite Arteta stating that it’s ‘not fair’ to expect big things of the Brazilian teenager immediately, his SMM spread of 25-30 could be one to keep an eye on. 2. Ashleigh Barty v Petra Kvitova – Barty/Kvitova Match Supremacy, 0.5-3.5There have been some BIG exits already in the Australian Open: Osaka, Williams (Serena and Venus), Pliskova, Svitolina – the list goes on. In fact, only 4 of the top 20 seeds are left in the competition. That includes world no. 1, and Aussie native, Ashleigh Barty and no. 7 seed, and 2019 finalist, Petra Kvitova. The pair meet in the toughest to call of the quarter-finals. Barty is the joint fixed odds favourite, at 3/1 alongside Simona Halep, with whom she also shares an Outright Index spread of 27.5-30.5. However, Kvitova is breathing down their necks, at 9/2 and 23-26 respectively. The 23-year old only narrowly has the advantage heading into the early hours of Tuesday morning – 1.30am on Eurosport 1 to be precise – at a Barty/Kvitova Match Supremacy spread of 0.5-3.5. That’s where the winner gets 10 points plus a further 5 points per set won by. 3. Milos Raonic v Novak Djokovic – Djokovic 3-0, 45.4-54.6In 9 meetings, Milos Raonic hasn’t been able to beat Novak Djokovic once. Only twice during that period has the Canadian even been able to take a set off of the defending champ, once in 2014 and then again in their last match in 2018. Raonic will be buoyed by the fact he is yet to drop a set at the 2020 Australian Open, in a run that has seen him dump out Stefanos Tsitsipas and Marin Cilic. But Djokovic has been almost on autopilot since a momentary wobble in the 1st round, speeding past the likes of Yoshihito Nishioka and Diego Schwartzman. Will the Serbian supremo be just as unruffled at 8am on Tuesday? Spreadex are offering a Djokovic 3-0 binary spread of 45.4-54.6. Disclaimer: quoted prices are subject to change.
