Who plays in the second Nations League semi-final?
Belgium play France for the right to take on Spain in Sunday’s Nations League final. Some of the best players in the world will be in action tonight as the teams ranked numbers 1 and 4 in the FIFA Rankings go head to head. With two fantastic front threes on show – Lukaku, Hazard and De Bruyne against Mbappe, Griezmann and Benzema, armchair viewers will be hoping for a goal fest in Turin. The Belgians will be out for revenge having lost the World Cup semi-final between these two teams 1-0 in 2018. France have had a habit of conceding as many as they score of late, with the recent 2-0 win over Finland breaking a run of five score draws in a row.
Total Goal Minutes (116-126)
Whether it’s in hope or expectation, we’ve seen money coming in from punters in various markets expecting plenty of goals tonight. Whether it’s Shirt Numbers (25-28), Total Goals (2.25-2.45), Headed Goal Minutes (17-20) or Penalty Goal Minutes (12-15), nearly all the action has been buying. There are some world class forward players on show and both teams look weaker at the back than up front, but semi-finals are usually tight affairs, and if this is a cagey encounter then the buyers will be in trouble.
Uruguay v Colombia
Two of South America’s footballing giants meet later tonight in a game that neither can afford to lose. There are four automatic spots in Qatar to be won in this group, and Uruguay are currently 3rd with Colombia 5th, level on points with Ecuador and two points behind tonight’s opponents. Colombia have been leaking goals at the back, the 16 they’ve conceded in nine games actually one more than bottom team Venezuela. Manchester United’s Edison Cavani is likely to lead the home side’s forward line alongside Luis Suarez once again.
1st Match Goal 40-43
Those staying up late (this is a midnight kick-off) might be hoping to see an early goal to keep them awake. If so, selling at the time of the 1st Match Goal could be the way forward. Colombia have continually leaked goals throughout this campaign, but Cavani and Suarez are not as young as they used to be, and with so much on the line and a defeat being a borderline disaster, it may be that both teams are happy with a point and don’t commit much going forward.
Is there a race meeting this evening?
Chelmsford City hosts tonight’s meeting, with eight races starting at 5pm.
Favourite Rush 32.5-34.5
Punters who are expecting the favourites to do well at tonight’s meeting could be buyers of our Favourite Rush spread at 34.5. This market awards points to favourites that win. If there are no winning favourites, it’s 0 point. One winner is 10 points, two winners 20 points, three winners 33 points, 4 winners is 50 points, 5 is 60 and any more than that is 100 point. Looking at today’s card, there looks to be at least five races that will go off with a favourite at 5/2 or shorter, and those expecting them to convert favouritism into victory will be buying the Favourite Rush spread at 34.5.
Who is in the darts World Grand Prix quarter-finals tonight?
It’s quarter-finals night in the World Grand Prix in Leicester. Top seed and hot favourite Gerwyn Price faces Dave Chisnall in the match of the night, a repeat of last year’s semi-final, which the Welshman edged 4-3. Danny Noppert, who has knocked out two of his Dutch heroes in Michael van Gerwen and Vincent van der Voort, takes on Ian White, Krzysztof Ratajski plays Premier League champ Jonny Clayton and Stephen Bunting faces Ryan Searle.
Price v Chisnall Multi-180s 16-18
Chizzy almost got the better of the Iceman last year, missing three match darts as he went down 4-3 in the semi-finals, and another close encounter could be in the offing tonight. If it is, buying in a number of the match spreads makes sense, as the longer the two players are out there, the more likely they’ll rack up the stats. The Multi-180s market multiplies Price’s 180s by Chisnall’s, and as these two are among the more prolific maximum hitters, the overs is tempting for those predicting a tight match. Will Chisnall be good enough to push Price or will this be a quick 3-0 win for the Iceman?
What other major sport is on?
Emma Raducanu makes her first appearance since her fairytale victory in the US Open at Indian Wells this week. Known as the 5th Major by many, Indian Wells is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the WTA Tour, and having transformed from qualifier to champion at Flushing Meadows, Raducanu has now transformed from no hoper to favourite! The top two ranked players in the world, Ash Barty and Aryna Sabalenka, are both injured, while Naomi Osaka also misses out. The action got underway today, though Raducanu has been given a bye into round 2, where she will play Belarussian Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
X-Courts 45-50
Raducanu was on fire throughout the US Open, winning her first Major without dropping a set. In nearly every game she played at Flushing Meadows the unders landed on the majority of markets because not only was she winning in straight sets, she was making short work of opponents, never even needing a tie break. Less than a month on, a lot might have changed. From unseeded qualifier to favourite, from no-one to superstar who has been to the Met Gala and the Bond premiere in her spare time. But if Raducanu gets in the same zone she was in in New York, the sellers will be out in force again. Can she keep that form up, or will the time off and the change of circumstances affect the young Brit? Our X-Courts market multiplies the two players’ game scores together in each set then adds them, so a 6-4 6-4 result totals 48, a 6-1 6-0 result totals 6.
