Man Utd v Liverpool, T20 Cricket, Doncaster Racing, USA GP, WHN? and more

Middlesbrough have a two-on-one opportunity against Barnsley, with the goal surely at their mercy - What Happens Next?

FOOTBALL

Bitter rivals Manchester United and Liverpool meet at Old Trafford on Sunday in a game that has all the makings of a classic. United haven’t kept a clean sheet in any competition since August, a run of nine games, while Liverpool have been in imperious form, scoring three or more goals in all seven away games this season.

Both sides won their midweek Champions League games 3-2, but while Liverpool will be buoyed after winning away at Spanish champions Atletico Madrid, United were booed off, down 2-0 at half-time at home against Atlanta, before a spirited comeback was capped by a Cristiano Ronaldo winner nine minutes from time.

Despite being at home, United are 21/10 underdogs, with Jurgen Klopp’s unbeaten visitors 5/4 favourites. These prices are industry best. The Total Goals spread is 3-3.2, with Total Goal Minutes set at 153-163. It’s 1/2 that both teams score, 6/4 they don’t.

Mo Salah, who has scored in a record nine games in a row, is favourite to get the first goal, with Ronaldo next best. Remember, if you back a first scorer with Spreadex and he scores last instead, our First Goalscorer Insurance gives you your stake back, up to £25, as a free bet. Liverpool won the corresponding fixture 4-2 last season – it’s 28/1 for a repeat on Sunday.

The Premier League weekend begins tonight with Arsenal facing Aston Villa at the Emirates.
The Gunners needed a late, late goal from substitute Alexandre Lacazette, to scrape a 2-2 home draw with Crystal Palace on Monday, but Villa have problems of their own, coming into this game having lost two games in a row.

Arsenal are an industry best 19/20 for the win, with Villa 16/5. It’s 33/1 for a repeat of last season’s 3-0 Villa away win, when OIlie Watkins scored twice. Punters predicting a repeat performance from the England striker will be interested in his Player Goal Minutes spread of 13-16, and Super Mega Minutes spread of 19-23.

It’s top versus bottom in Saturday’s early game, with Chelsea taking on Norwich City at Stamford Bridge. The Blues thrashed Malmo 4-0 in the Champions League in midweek, but that came at a cost, with both strikers, Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, picking up injuries that rule them out of the Norwich game.

Despite losing their first choice front two, Chelsea are still strong favourites. They’re an industry best 2/11 to take the three points, with Norwich 20/1.

In Spain, Sunday sees the first El Clasico of the season, as Barcelona play Read Madrid at the Nou Camp.
Both teams won their midweek Champions League games, but Real were much more impressive in winning 5-0 at Shakhtar Donetsk than Barca were beating Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 at home, and that’s reflected in the prices for the game, Real 29/20 favourites with Barcelona 13/8.

CRICKET

A year late, and in the UAE rather than India, the T20 World Cup proper gets underway tomorrow.
After a week of qualifiers, which saw Scotland grab one of the four places on offer in the main draw, the Super 12 group games begin on Saturday morning with Australia against South Africa before England’s campaign starts with a repeat of the 2016 final against the West Indies.

Australia are 8/11 to start with a win, with South Africa 11/10. The Australia/South Africa spread, which awards 1 point per run won by, or 10 points per wicket, is 1-9.

The England/West Indies spread is 8-14, with England 4/6 fixed odds favourites, the Windies 6/5 outsiders.
Outright, England are second favourites to lift the trophy they last won in 2010 behind 2/1 favourites India, whose first game is Sunday afternoon against Pakistan.

FORMULA 1

Lewis Hamilton is odds on to win Sunday’s US Grand Prix as he looks to retake the lead in the driver’s championship.

The world champ has won five times in eight starts at the Circuit of the Americas, and is 5/6 to win again, with championship leader Max Verstappen 13/8, and Valtteri Bottas, who won in Turkey two weeks ago and also won here last time the race was held in 2019, a 12/1 shot.

Verstappen leads the championship by six points with six races to go.
