Daily Spread Betting Round-up
How did Man United get on in the Champions League?
Cometh the hour, cometh the man. United, under pressure after losing their opening game away at Young Boys were lumbering towards a disappointing 1-1 draw with Villarreal when, five minutes into injury time, Cristiano Ronaldo pounced to score a late, late winner.
Ronaldo Player Goal Minutes (settled at 90)
After a lean spell without a goal (of one game), it looked like the unthinkable might happen and the returning hero was going to go a second successive game without a goal, having blanked in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa. With just seconds of added time left, Jesse Lingard got a crucial touch into Ronaldo’s path and he made no mistake to claim the three points. The spread for Ronaldo’s Player Goal Minutes was set at 36-39, so buyers had extra reason to celebrate United’s comeback, banking 61 times their bet.
How is Barcelona’s Champions League campaign going?
Terrible. In fact, the worst ever. Barcelona lost 3-0 at Benfica last night, which on the back of the home defeat by Bayern Munich by the same score on Matchday 1, equates to Barca’s worst ever start to a Champions League campaign. Darwin Nunez put Benfica ahead inside three minutes, and the Portuguese side never looked back, Nunez getting his second and Benfica’s third from the spot after Rafa Silva had doubled the lead.
Cross-Bookings (settled at 2600)
Barca couldn’t get the better of Benfica in the game but they outdid them in the cards score, just. The hosts managed four yellow cards, but Barca matched them before Erik Garcia received a second yellow and a subsequent red. Nine bookings and a sending off were good for buyers in numerous bookings markets – Bookings buyers (set at 46-50) won 55 times their stake, Multi-Bookings buyers (set at 450-550) won 1150 times their wager, and Cross-Bookings buyers (set at 560-650) won 1950 times their bet.
What else happened in the Champions League?
One of the more amazing stats occurred in the Salzburg v Lille game, which Salzburg won 2-1. The Austrians, who drew 1-1 with Sevilla on Matchday 1 despite being given three penalties, were handed another two spot kicks last night to make it five in their opening two games! Practice seems to be making perfect, as they scored both against Lille to take the three points.
Salzburg v Lille Penalty Goal Minutes (settled at 88)
After their three penalty kicks in the first match, we did see some buyers in this market last night, and they were richly rewarded. The Penalty Goal Minutes spread was set at 15-18, meaning buyers banked 70 times their bet.
What happened in the Royal Challengers Bangalore v Rajasthan Royals IPL game?
Rajasthan made a flying start, and were 77 without loss after 8.1 overs, before the RCB bowlers pinned them back. A total of 149-9 after 20 overs looked short, and so it was, as Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten 50 guided RCB to a seven wicket win with 17 balls to spare.
Rajasthan Joy of 6 (settled at 125)
Despite their defeat, the quick start by the Royals meant they racked up the points in the Joy of 6 market. The Joy of 6 awards 25 points for each six scored by any of three named players, in this case Evin Lewis, Sanju Samson and Liam Livingstone. While Livingstone didn’t manage any maximums, three sixes from Lewis and two from Samson saw Rajasthan Joy of 6 settled at 125, a profit of 29 times their stake for buyers at 88-96.
What happened in last night’s racing at Kempton?
Apart from the 1/5 winner of the second, it was a night for the outsiders at Kempton, with 28/1, 25/1, 20/1, 14/1 and 12/1 winners.
Starting Prices (settled at 110.7)
Buyers at the opening spread of 63-66 made 44.7 times their bet as the outsiders kept on winning at Kempton. The Starting Price market is made up of all the starting prices of the winning horses added together.
