Midweek's Big Winning Bets

There has been international cricket, top level football action in England, Scotland and further afield as well as plenty of racing to get stuck into over the last few days.

Ahead of a busy sporting weekend, we take a look at the big wining spread bets from the last few days.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

KASIMPASA v GIRESUNSPOR – KAS/GIR SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT 4)

We start our midweek odyssey in Istanbul, where away from the bright lights of Besiktas and Fenerbahce, Kasimpasa played host to Giresunspor in a relegation tussle at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium.

The Turkish president not only lends his name to the stadium, but was also a one-time Kasimpasa youth player and he would have been delighted to see his hometown side beat Giresunspor 5-1 to propel themselves above their opponents in the league, but also out of the relegation zone.

Before the match, the supremacy spread was 0.20-0.40 in Kasimpasa’s favour, but after the visitors took an early lead, this flipped to -0.80 - -0.60. However, pre-match buyers needn’t have worried as the Apaches fired back to win 5-1. A four-goal winning margin meant that the spread settled at 4, with pre-match buyers winning a handy 3.6x their stake.

INDIA v NEW ZEALAND – NEW ZEALAND RUNS (SETTLED AT 66)

With the T20 series poised at 1-1, New Zealand were always likely to struggle to make it 2-1 after they allowed India to run up a first innings score of 234, but still they would have hoped to put up more fight than they did on Wednesday.

As Devon Conway and Finn Allen entered the crease at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Black Caps’ run spread was 176-182, but they could only score three between them, and worse was to follow. Four players came and went without scoring and Daryl Mitchell on 35 scored over half of New Zealand’s runs as they faltered to 66 all out.

It was a pitiful end to the series, but sellers on the New Zealand runs spread would have been rejoicing as they landed a win of 110x their original stake.

WINCANTON 2ND FEBRUARY – SQUARED NUMBERS (SETTLED AT 157)

The Squared Numbers spread is based on the winning horse’s racecard number squared and then aggregated for all races across a meeting. Ahead of racing yesterday, the Wincanton Squared Numbers spread was 358-393.

Celtic Art and Certainly Red both won wearing number one whilst Famous Clermont in two and Goodtimecrew in 3 ensured that four of the seven races contributed just 15 to the spread total. It was a good day for sellers overall, though they could have done without 50/1 shot Calgary Red winning the 14:30 with number six – the highest number in that race.

The 15:35 also saw 6/5 shot Annie Magic wearing number one overturned, but overall, sellers came out well up with the final make up at 157.

This meant those who had the foresight to sell ahead of the day’s racing came home with a win equal to 201x their initial stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
