Murray, who has won the tournament five times and is likely to retire this year, had to summon up his famous fighting spirit but got the job done in three sets.

After suffering with fitness and very patchy form this year and with that likely weighing on his shoulders, Murray was desperate for a positive result in the lead up to what will almost certainly be his last Wimbledon campaign, and after claiming the first set impressively, he managed to stop the Popyrin momentum in the third to move through to the next round where he will face another Aussie - Jordan Thompson.

For punters backing the Scot to do the business, buying on the Match Supremacy market at an opening spread of -2.50 - 0.5 and a settlement of 15 yielded a return of 17.5x for successful buy trades.
