Daily Spread Betting Round-up
Monday and Tuesday saw a range of international sporting action with Los Angeles Chargers facing the Miami Dolphins in the NFL, Sydney Thunder hosting Melbourne stars in the opening game of the Big Bash and Argentina going head-to-head with Croatia for a spot in the World Cup final!
As always, we have picked out three big winning spread bets from the action!
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS V MIAMI DOLPHINS – 1ST TOUCHDOWN SHIRT NUMBER (SETTLED AT 81)
First of all, we head to the SoFi stadium, as the Los Angeles Chargers hosted the Miami Dolphins in round 14 of the NFL with only three places separating the two sides in the conference.
As the league positions of the two sides would suggest this match started at a stalemate with neither side able to score a single point in the first quarter before the game sprung to life in the second as the Chargers took a 17-7 lead into the halfway stage.
The remaining two quarters were similarly very close with only one touchdown being scored as the Dolphins took the second half 10-6 which meant a narrow defeat for the visitors.
But where was the value for the punters?
With the first touchdown being scored by Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams, the 1st Touchdown Shirt Number market made up at a massive 81. With a spread of 12-15 offered pre-match, punters who decided to buy won 66x their stake!
SYDNEY THUNDER V MELBOURNE STARS – LAUNCH! (SETTLED AT 364)
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, the Australian Big Bash opening game took place with Melbourne Stars travelling to Sydney Thunder with both sides looking to get off to a winning start.
The Thunder won the toss and elected to bowl and restricted the visitors to just 122 as Gurinder Sandhu (2/23), Fazalhaq Farooqi (2/20) and Daniel Sams (2/20) shined with the ball not allowing a single batter to pass 25 runs.
New signing Trent Boult opened the bowling for the Stars and got off to a perfect start removing Matthew Gilkes and Rilee Rossouw for ducks in his opening over. The hosts scrambled to 122-9 with one ball remaining, which was played and missed by Sandhu however, Brendan Doggett was on the ball as he scurried through for a single giving the Thunder a single-wicket victory.
With the top score from a batsman only being 28 from Alex Ross and the highest scoring over only going for 13 runs the Launch market made up at just 364 (28 x 13 = 364)! With a pre-match spread of 1350-1450 offered, punters who decided to sell won 986x their stake!
ARGENTINA V CROATIA – SHIRTS X BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 1120)
Finally, we head to Qatar as Argentina faced Croatia in the semi-final of the World Cup with both sides looking to book a spot in Sunday’s final against the winner of France v Morocco.
Croatia looked to have the measure of Argentina early on before Lionel Messi was brought down in the box by Dinamo Zagreb keeper Dominik Livakovic resulting in a spot kick that Messi expertly dispatched into the top right-hand corner.
Just five minutes later Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez doubled their lead as he bundled past Livakovic to put the Argentines in a dominant position. The final nail in the coffin for Croatia came in the 69th minute as a superb run from Messi left the Croatian defence in knots leaving Alvarez with the simplest of finishes for his second of the game booking Argentina’s spot in Sunday’s final.
Although there were three goals in the game, the shirt numbers only tallied up to 28. This multiplied with the relatively low, compared to the record-breaking 17 cards shown in Argentina’s last game, four yellow cards meant that the Shirts x Bookings market made up at just 1120 (28 x 40 = 1120). With a pre-match spread of 2050-2350 offered, punters who decided to sell won 930x their stake!
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
