Monday & Tuesday's Big Winning Bets

Punters have enjoyed a busy and action-packed start to another week of sport as the first Ashes Test, EURO 2024 qualifiers and grass-court tennis action have taken centre stage – but where has the most profit been won over the last two days?

Read on below to find out more about three of the most eye-catching spread betting wins from Monday and Tuesday.

ASHES FIRST TEST (ENG V AUS) – AUS TO WIN MATCH (SETTLED AT 100)

The Ashes series finally got underway at Edgbaston and England were hoping to get the perfect start to the series with an opening win – but it unfortunately wasn’t quite to be. Saying that, comparisons with the folk heroes of 2005 have not diminished as England also lost the first test back then before securing their famous series victory.

On a tense final day of another Edgbaston classic, ninth-wicket pair Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon added an unbroken 55 to defy the raucous crowd and get Australia to their target of 281. Of course, in doing so, they also exacted revenge for Australia's famous two-run defeat on this ground 18 years ago, when the tailenders just fell short of reaching a target of 282.

Captain Ben Stokes’ decision to declare was scrutinised somewhat as a decision that was too risky, but the confidence in the ‘Bazball’ approach has equally been praised in many quarters, and a lot of positives can be taken for England to ultimately turn things around.

For savvy buyers on the spread betting markets, ultimately siding with the away side and buying Aus to Win Match at 38 – 43.50 saw them win a 56.5x return on their stake – wicket!

MOLDOVA V POLAND – MOLDOVA TGMs (SETTLED AT 212)

There was a huge shock in the European qualifiers on Tuesday as Robert Lewandowski’s Poland incredibly blew a 2-0 lead against minnows Moldova to crash to a 3-2 defeat. Lewandowski himself got on the scoresheet as the Poles raced to a two-goal lead going into the break, but the world’s 171st ranked side grabbed what initially looked to be a consolation on 48 minutes.

However, it just ended up being the start of a famous comeback – perhaps the most famous night in Moldovan football history. With two more goals in the 79th and 85th minutes, the home side secured the comeback victory. For spread bettors, the Moldova TGMs market proved profitable for those electing to buy as a make-up of 212 from a pre-match spread of just 24 – 32 meant punters enjoyed a 180x return on their opening stake.

ALCARAZ V RINDERKNECH – TOTAL POINTS (SETTLED AT 204)

The build-up to Wimbledon continues and this week tennis fans are enjoying the action at the famous Queen’s Club for the Cinch Championships, where Carlos Alcaraz was in action on Tuesday looking for his first ATP-Level win on grass, having only played on the surface before at Wimbledon itself.

After a relatively disappointing French Open where the young Spanish superstar suffered from cramps in his semi-final defeat to Novak Djokovic and lost his number one ranking, transitioning to the faster grass courts was not expected to be a necessarily smooth one – but few predicted Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, who lost in the qualifying stages here and only replaced his injured countryman Arthur Fils as a Lucky Loser – to provide particularly stiff competition to Alcaraz.

However, Rinderknech produced an excellent fighting performance and pushed the Spaniard all the way, grabbing the first set with a break in the tenth game and holding an early break in the decider before falling short. For those predicting a long match, plenty of profit was to be had. With a pre-match Total Points spread of 133 – 138 and a make-up of 204, buyers on the market were left with an Ace return of 66x their opening stake!

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
