Monday & Tuesday's Big Winning Bets

After the excitement of the sporting action over the last week, this week has started in fairly low-key fashion. However, there has still been some football action to enjoy, as well as basketball, tennis and cricket.

We have sifted through Monday’s and Tuesday’s events to - as always - identify three big winning spread bets!

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

BARNSLEY v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY – GOALS X CORNERS X BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 3360)

Although matches in the major leagues have begun their pause for the international break, League One and League Two both saw matches on Tuesday, including what proved to be a highly exciting match-up between Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday in the third tier.

The first half saw the home side burst out of the blocks with two quickfire goals in the 10th and 12th minutes, but Wednesday hit back midway through the half to keep themselves in touch. The second half then saw wild action, including a 74th minute equaliser for the away side, but followed by an 83rd minute third goal for Barnsley and a fourth in the 96th minute to seal the win. The half also saw a massive seven yellow cards issued.

With six total goals, eight total bookings (80 booking points) and seven corners, the Goals x Corners x Bookings market settled at a massive 3360. A pre-match spread of just 840 – 940 meant that buyers were left winning 2,420x their opening stake!

NEW ZEALAND V SRI LANKA – TON UPS (SETTLED AT 215)

There has been lots of cricket to enjoy over the last two days, but one of these matches saw New Zealand secure a dominant victory over Sri Lanka in their Test match by an innings and 58 runs.

The South Asian side’s resistance finally broke late on day four as having been asked to follow on, they needed 416 runs to make the hosts bat again. However, they were bowled out for 358 in their second innings at the Basin Reserve. That meant New Zealand completed their third test win in succession after claiming the thrilling series-opener by two wickets on the last ball in Christchurch and beating England by one run in another cliffhanger in Wellington.

Sri Lanka’s hopes of a first win in the country since 2006 all but ended when their batters managed only 164 in reply to New Zealand’s declared first innings total of 580 for four.

But where was the value for punters? Ton Ups certainly proved to be a shrewd buyer’s market, as a make-up of 215 meant a return of 140x their stake from a pre-match spread of 68 - 75.

HOLT V GOJO – TOTAL POINTS (SETTLED AT 268)

And finally, in the tennis action, Monday and Tuesday saw the qualifying rounds for the upcoming Miami Masters. The conditions in Miami mean fast courts and eagle-eyed punters may have bookmarked the clash between USA’s Brandon Holt and Croatia’s Borna Gojo as a match with the potential to go the distance.

Their one previous meeting was won by Holt way back in 2017 with a score of 7-5, 6-7, 7-5, but the match went even longer this time around with three consecutive tie-breaks, eventually seeing Gojo come out victorious 6-7 7-6 7-6.

For punters who decided to buy at a pre-match spread of 147 – 152, a final make-up of a whopping 268 meant a 116x return on their opening wager!

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
