Daily Spread Betting Round-up
How did England start in the 2nd Ashes Test?
Australia picked up where they left off in the 1st Test, dominating day one in Adelaide to finish on 221-2. Marnus Labuschagne finished unbeaten on 95 and David Warner was out for the same score as the Aussies took advantage of winning the toss to lay the foundations for another big score. England, with James Anderson and Stuart Broad back to lead the bowling attack, plugged away gamely but didn’t get much luck. They’ll need to start day 2 well if they’re to get back into this game and series.
Australia 2nd Wicket (settled at 176)
Unfortunately for England, this Aussie innings went depressingly similarly to their 1st innings at the Gabba, with Marcus Harris going cheaply before Warner and Labuschagne put on a big partnership. At the Gabba, where they scored 94 and 74 respectively, they put on 156, and that prompted some buying today with the spread for the score when the Aussie 2nd Wicket fell set at 52-57. Today the in-form pair put on 172 having come together at 4-1, meaning buyers made a profit of 119 times their bet.
What happened in last night’s Premier League games?
Arsenal replaced West Ham in the top 4 of the Premier League table with a 2-0 win over the Hammers at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe were enough to send Arsenal into 4th place in a game they dominated. Alexandre Lacazette had a penalty saved, Kieran Tierney rattled the woodwork and there were plenty of other chances as Arsenal dominated.
Bukayo Saka Assist Minutes (settled at 87)
The wide man has built up a great relationship with fellow England international Smith Rowe, and it was no surprise that Saka picked up another assist by supplying substitute Smith Rowe. As it played out, Smith Rowe did all the hard work, receiving Saka’s pass just inside the West Ham pass and carrying the attack to the Hammers, who were pressing to get back into the game, before shooting home from the edge of the area. Buyers of Saka’s Assist Minutes, set at 9-12, won’t mind how the assist came about, enjoying a tidy profit of 75 times their stake.
Who is the favourite for the World Darts Championship?
Gerwyn Price is the world number 1, defending champion and the favourite to win the World Darts Championship, but for one moment of his opening match last night, it looked like the Welshman was in trouble. On the opening night of action at Ally Pally, Price was last up, due to enter at the 2nd round stage and play the winner of the opening 1st round game. Ritchie Edhouse, who had won 3-2 earlier against Peter Hudson to earn his shot at the champ, started like a house on fire, winning the first three legs to go a set up and give hope to those hoping to see the top seed get knocked out. Price settled down though and won the next three sets to make it into round 3, winning 3-1.
Checkout Ton or Bust (settled at 366)
This market aggregates all the match checkouts of 100 or more, so a 99 checkout counts zero in this market, but a 100 checkout counts 100 towards the make-up. The spread was set at 204-224, but with Edhouse putting up a decent fight, and that in turn prompting Price to move out of first gear to make sure his passage to the next round was a safe one, meant the overs landed comfortably. Buyers at 224 made 142 times their stake.
