Will there be a home winner in the Australian Open?

Ash Barty became the 1st Australian woman to make the final of the Australian Open since 1978 with an easy straight sets win against unseeded Madison Keyes. The Wimbledon champ eased through 6-1 6-3 and will face Danielle Collins in Saturday’s final, where Barty will hope to become the 1st home winner of either the men’s or women’s singles in 42 years. Barty has won all 10 singles games this year, having won the Adelaide International warm-up event.

Set 1 Cross-Points (settled at 527)

World number 1 Barty was just too good for Keys from the off in this semi-final, and anyone who predicted how one-sided this would be made plenty of profit. The Cross-Points market is made up of the points won by Barty x those won by Keys, and with Keys being played off the park, she didn’t win enough to get anywhere near the original spread, which was set at 978-1053. Barty won 31 points to Keys’ 17, giving a total of 527, a profit of 451 times their bet for sellers.

What happened in the big Championship game last night?

West Bromwich Albion’s indifferent form continued as they went down 2-0 at home to Preston to deal their hopes or promotion back to the Premier League another blow. Last weekend’s 3-0 win over lowly Peterborough is the only win the Baggies have managed in their last seven games stretching back to the middle of December, and from looking like one of the main challengers for automatic promotion, West Brom are now sliding back into the pack and in danger of missing out on the playoffs. Emil Riis Jakobsen and debutant Cameron Archer scored the goals that saw Preston bounce back from their first defeat under Ryan Lowe at the first opportunity.

TGM Supremacy Pre:WBA (settled at 117)

With West Brom going into this game as favourites, they were fancied in the Total Goal Minutes Supremacy market, with the spread at the start of the game of WBA:Pre 38-52. However, it was Preston who took the three points and in doing so scored the only goals of the game, giving a TGM Supremacy of -117 with West Brom listed first, or 117 with Preston first. From the starting spread of WBA:Pre 38-52, those who fancied Preston will have sold at 38 and made a total profit of 155 times their stake.

How are England doing in the T20 series in the West Indies?

England lost the 3rd T20 match in the West Indies last night in a high-scoring thrilling encounter. The hosts posted a massive 224-5 in their 20 overs, their record score against England, and while the tourists made a decent fist of chasing down that mammoth target, ultimately they came up 20 runs short, finishing on 204-9. Rovman Powell struck 107 off 53 balls and shared a destructive 122-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran, who made 70 off 43, as the Windies put England to the sword. Opener Tom Banton made 73 off 39 and debutant Phil Salt hit 57 off 24 but ultimately England came up short. The series finishes this weekend with back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday.

Multi-Sixes (settled at 240)

In a high-scoring T20 game like this one, it’s no surprise to learn all the sixes markets sailed over their spreads. The spread was set at 45-51 but the Windies smashed 16 sixes and England hit only one less in their spirited chase, giving a Multi-Sixes total of 240. There are few more fun over bets to cheer home than Multi-Sixes, with every maximum working in your favour, and buyers had a good night last night, making a profit of 189 times their bet.
