Tuesday night followed on from the sporting feast we saw on Monday with Birmingham Phoenix edging past the Oval Invincibles in The Hundred, before heading to the EFL Cup where Aston Villa emphatically beat Bolton and Leicester scraped past Stockport on penalties.

However, who were the big winners and what markets brought punters the most joy?

We review Tuesday’s action and highlight where canny punters could have struck gold on our spread betting markets.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

BOLTON V ASTON VILLA – GOALS X CORNERS X BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 1400)

Aston Villa got back to winning ways against Bolton in a vital win to relieve some of the mounting pressure on manager Steven Gerrard to progress into the third round of the EFL Cup.

Although playing a side two divisions lower Gerrard named a strong side with both Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings leading the line however, it was a disastrous start for Villa as Bolton forward Dion Charles gave the home side an unexpected lead in the 24th minute.

Villa reacted quickly with Douglas Luiz scoring directly from a corner to get the visitors level. In the second half they showed the difference in class with Ings and Lucas Digne scoring before Leon Bailey put the game beyond any doubt as he slotted into the bottom corner after a mazy run from just inside the Bolton half.

With goals tallying at an impressive five, bookings making up at 40pts (four yellows) and corners adding up to seven the Goals x Corners x Bookings market made up at an impressive 1400. With a pre-match spread of 780-880, punters who decided to buy won a victorious profit of 520x their opening stake!

OVAL INVINCIBLES V BIRMINGHAM PHOENIX – LAUNCH! (SETTLED AT 855)

Mooen Ali’s Birmingham Phoenix got a crucial win against the star-studded Oval Invincibles to move up to joint second in The Hundred rankings after six games!

The wicket was ideal for the batsmen and Birmingham Phoenix got off to a flyer with Will Smeed scoring a fast paced 23 off just 13 balls before captain Ali reached a quickfire score of 42.

That wasn’t the end of the big-hitting for the Phoenix as Liam Livingstone entered the crease. After initially struggling to get to grips with the Invincibles attack Livingstone found his form to top score for the visitors with a match-high total of 45.

It was then the turn of the Invincibles who had a slow start with Will Jacks, Jason Roy and Rilee Roussow all falling cheaply to put the Phoenix in a commanding position. The Curran brothers started to get the scoreboard moving as they went after Imran Tahir. The spinner had the most expensive over of the game as the Currans continued to find the boundary rope scoring 19 off just five balls!

Although Livingstone’s score was the highest in the game it was relatively low in comparison to previous Hundred games and even when multiplied to Tahir’s expensive over of 19 the Launch! market only made up at 855.

With a pre-match spread of 1300-1400 punters who decided to sell made a massive 445x their initial stake!

LEICESTER V STOCKPORT – TOTAL GOAL MINUTES (SETTLED AT 0)

Leicester’s clash with Stockport wasn’t one for the neutrals as the Premier League side only just scraped past struggling League Two side Stockport on penalties.

Leicester named a strong side with Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka, Youri Tielemans and Kelechi Iheanacho all getting the nod and they peppered the Stockport goal having 26 shots, eight of those on target. However, Stockport keeper Vitezslav Jaros survived the onslaught as the game ended scoreless at full time.

It was a brave effort from County but the visitors showed their class on penalties and the Premier League side came out on top to progress to the next round.

With the three-league difference and the strong pre-match line-up for the Foxes, we offered a spread of 173-188 meaning punters who decided to sell made an impressive 173x their stake!
