Wednesday and Thursday's Big Winning Bets

Although much of the headline sporting action took place earlier in the week, midweek events still included plenty of enjoyable sport and several potential betting wins for savvy punters before a packed weekend of football, rugby, tennis and more.

We have sifted through the markets to find three big winning bets from Wednesday and Thursday.

PERU V BRAZIL – 1st MATCH GOAL (SETTLED AT 90)

With much of the attention during the international break on the EURO 2024 qualifying, it was South American football taking the stage in midweek as the World Cup qualifying cycle continued and Brazil were on the road against Peru.

In a scrappy match not befitting Brazil’s attacking and exciting reputation, the Seleção still ultimately secured the three points to consolidate top spot after the first two matches.

A Neymar-assisted goal from centre-back Marquinhos proved to be the difference, but with the first (and only) goal of the match coming in the 90th minute, buyers on the 1st Match Goal spread which opened at 33-36 were rewarded with a return of 54x their opening wager!

KOKKINAKIS V DRAPER – X-COURTS (SETTLED AT 102)

Tennis action after the final Grand Slam of the season is far from over and this week has seen the return of the ‘World Cup of Tennis’ – the Davis Cup, with Wednesday seeing Team Australia taking on Team GB. It was ultimately the Brits who secured a 2-1 win in the tie, and this was in huge part down to the heroics of the young Jack Draper.

With Draper being broken late and down 5-4 in the deciding set in Manchester, the match looked to be over for the Brit, but he managed to break straight back against Australia’s Thanasi Kokkinakis and then made another comeback in the deciding tie-break as he overturned a 4-2 deficit to secure the victory for his team.

For punters, the X-Courts market was a profitable buy as a starting spread of 58-63 and a make-up of 102 meant a return of 39x their opening stake.

SRI LANKA V PAKISTAN – PAK/SRI SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT -20)

Finally, we end on the cricket action as Sri Lanka grabbed a dramatic two-wicket win over Pakistan with Charith Asalanka lifting his team into Sunday's Asia Cup final against India.

Needing six off the last two balls in Colombo, the 26-year-old edged a boundary to third man against debutant fast bowler Zaman Khan before turning the pacer to square leg for two runs to carry Sri Lanka to 252-8 in a rain-reduced 42-over-a-side Super 4 game.

For punters, selling proved to be a profitable choice on the Pakistan/Sri Lanka Supremacy, with a pre-match spread of 14-24 and a make-up of -20 meaning a 34x return on opening bets.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
