Daily Spread Betting Round-up
There has been some decent sport at the back end of the week and plenty more to look forward to with the Ashes taking centre stage over the weekend. The US Open and Darts World Cup continue whilst the Canadian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday evening. Before we can get stuck into that, here are the big winning bets from the last few days.
Please remember Spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.
SPAIN v ITALY – 1ST SPAIN GOAL (SETTLED AT 3)
After defeating the Netherlands in extra time on Wednesday evening, Croatia are in the mix for their first major title and they will face Spain in the final of the Nations League this weekend. The Spaniards needed an 88th minute winner from Espanyol striker Joselu to advance, but there was a decent win for spread bettors who sold the time of the 1st Spain Goal spread at 53-56.
In just the third minute of the match, teen sensation Yeremy Pino robbed elder statesman Leonardo Bonucci before rifling home a finish from the edge of the box to put Luis de la Fuente’s side in the lead. Sellers didn’t have to sweat much in this match as they won 50x their stake.
US OPEN FIRST ROUND SCORES – RICKIE FOWLER (SETTLED AT 62)
Two Californians lead the way after the first day of the US Open and it was a day full of action and unusually low scoring with Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler tied first after carding a round of 62, the lowest score by any player in the history of the US Open.
There were also two holes in one on the opening day in Los Angeles with former champions Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy two shots and three shots off the lead respectively. Fowler has been in decent nick this year and his first round score spread was priced at 70.8-71.6 with sellers winning 8.8x their stake (sellers on Schauffele would have won 8.1x their stake in comparison).
NORTHERN IRELAND v FRANCE – NI/FRA 10/3 (SETTLED AT -19)
One of the more unusual events on the PDC Tour got underway last night in Frankfurt as a newly expanded Darts World Cup took to the stage at the Eissporthalle. This year the tournament is in a pure pairs format and features the usual heavyweight nations as well as sides including Guyana, Ukraine and Iceland.
There weren’t many shocks from last night’s action, but Northern Ireland’s duo of Brendan Dolan and Daryl Gurney have a mountain to climb if they are to reach the last 16 having been beaten 4-1 by France last night. The French pair are no mugs, Jacques Labre is the first Frenchman to win a Tour Card whilst Thibault Tricolore was a beaten WDF World Championship finalist, but Northern Ireland were expected to win and were priced at 7.5-10.5 favourites on the 10/3 spread.
With the French earning ten points on the spread for winning the match and three points for every leg won by, the market settled at -19 as sellers checked out with a win of 26.5x their stake.
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
