WHAT HAPPENED NEXT?

QPR V NORWICH – 1ST MATCH GOAL (SETTLED AT 90)

We start in midweek EFL Cup action where it was a good night for Spreadex partners Norwich in their all-Championship clash with QPR. Punters may well have expected a tightly-contested match with little between the sides based on the fact that they drew twice in their league meetings last season, and so it proved.

However, the Canaries left it incredibly late to grab the win and a place in the next round with a winning goal from substitute Jon Rowe in the ninth minute of added time at the end of the regulation 90 – meaning a make-up of 90 on the 1st Match Goal market.

That left bettors who decided to buy at the pre-match spread of 35 – 38 a tidy 52x return on their opening wager. Back of the net!

ALCARAZ V PAUL – TOTAL POINTS (SETTLED AT 255)

In what is becoming an increasingly interesting and unexpected rivalry in the tennis world, Spain’s world number one Carlos Alcaraz faced his new nemesis Tommy Paul of the USA for the second week running after falling to defeat in the Toronto Masters. While Paul has not achieved remotely comparable results to Alcaraz, he seems to up his game in every meeting of the two and once again rushed to a quick start to lead by a break in the first set.

However, the young Spaniard continues to show his talent and fighting qualities and managed to claw back the deficit to win the first set in a tie-break. The second set followed a similar pattern but after several traded breaks of serve, Paul overcame several scares late on to once again force a tie-break which he clinched without even dropping a point.

With several rain delays then disrupting the rhythm of the match, it was ultimately Alcaraz who prevailed with a more comfortable 6-3 scoreline in the deciding set, but another highly-competitive meeting between these players saw a Total Points make-up of 255. For punters with foresight, buying at the pre-match spread of just 147 – 152 meant they returned 103x their initial stake – game, set and match!

TRENT ROCKETS V MANCHESTER ORIGINALS – PHIL SALT RUNS (SETTLED AT 86)

Finally, we end with more the cricket action at The Hundred, where the Manchester Originals finally snapped their three-match losing streak in the competition in matches against the Trent Rockets. With their ten-run win, they also moved themselves up to second place in the competition standings on 7 points, just behind the Oval Invincibles.

Much of the reason for the win was down to Phil Salt managing to smash a stunning 86 off 32 balls, which was the fastest 20-ball half-century so far in this year’s competition. As such, Phil Salt Runs proved a profitable market for buying punters, as a 28 – 32 opening spread meant a return of 54x – howzat!

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
