Wednesday and Thursday's Big Winning Bets

The wall-to-wall football has continued this week and with the Australian Open also entertaining, there has been plenty to get excited about.

Andy Murray’s sensational win over Thanasi Kokkinakis was probably the highlight of the last few days, though some in West Yorkshire would deem Wilfried Gnonto’s scissor kick to surpass that. Luckily we have room for both in our big winners’ blog as we find out where punters could have landed a touch from the last few days.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

ANDY MURRAY v THANASI KOKKINAKIS – TOTAL POINTS (SETTLED AT 388)

Anyone who read our blog on the winners from Monday and Tuesday will have seen that a buy on Total Points in Andy Murray’s first round clash with Matteo Berrettini would have yielded a decent profit, as was the case yesterday when he faced home favourite Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The Australian went two sets up (4-6, 6-7) before Murray launched the start of a sensational comeback in Victoria. He won the third set 7-6, before landing the fourth by the biggest margin of the match as he won 6-3. By now both men were visibly tiring as the match ploughed on into the early hours of the morning in Melbourne.

Kokkinakis was struggling with an ankle problem, Murray visibly wincing after every point with his metal hip causing no end of grief. Neither man looked like they were going to yield. But then Murray secured a vital break point and served out for the match in the following game to win a five-set thriller.

Before this 5h45 classic got underway, the Total Points spread was 242-249 and after the last shot was played, the spread settled at 388. Buyers would not have found a fault with the match as they aced a win of 139x their stake.

LEEDS UNITED v CARDIFF CITY – GOALS x SHIRTS (SETTLED AT 1323)

There were plenty of decent winners to be had on Wednesday when Cardiff City headed north to face Leeds in an FA Cup third round replay, with buys on Total Goals and Total Goal Minutes and a sell on 1st Match Goal all providing profit.

However, we have decided to settle on Goals x Shirts in a match that was started in the best possible way thanks to a 1st minute scissor kick from Leeds’ Italian sensation Wilfried Gnonto (shirt number 29).

Rodrigo (19) continued his good scoring form for the Whites before Gnonto finished off a superb team move to put Jesse Marsch’s side 3-0 up at the break. Injury-hit Patrick Bamford (9) came off the bench and bagged a second half brace in a match that saw Leeds rack up 24 shots against their Championship opponents.

Cardiff have bigger issues at hand than the FA Cup, with their league position precarious, but the small band of travelling City fans were given a late boost as substitute Callum Robinson (47) scored a double in the dying minutes to make it 5-2 on the night.

With plenty of double-digit scorers, Shirts made up at 189 and with seven goals, this left Goals x Shirts to settle at 1323. The pre-match spread for this market was 285-315 with buyers landing a win of 1004x their original stake.

MANCHESTER CITY v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – RIYAD MAHREZ SUPER-MEGA MINUTES (SETTLED AT 244)

Manchester City have had an up-and-down season and that was encapsulated in 90 minutes last night as they came off the canvas to win 4-2 against Tottenham to keep themselves well in the title mix.

Two goals on the stroke of half time had put Antonio Conte’s side in front, but City came out firing after the break as a quickfire double from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland drew the hosts level with 53 minutes on the clock. In the 64th minute they took the lead through Riyad Mahrez and the mercurial Algerian secured the victory with a 90th minute winner.

Before the match Riyad Mahrez Super-Mega Minutes was 21-25, but with the final make-up at 244 (64+(2x90)), buyers were left with a win of 219x their initial stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
