Daily Spread Betting Round-up
While it was a quieter midweek of sport on Wednesday, there were still opportunities for punters to get involved in the spread betting action and come away with some significant profit.
In the football, the Nations League action saw Scotland secure a dominant 3-0 victory over Ukraine at Hampden Park, in what amounted to a revenge for their defeat at the same venue in the World Cup qualifying play-off.
In other sport, Gloucester produced a dominant second half display to blowout the Worcester Warriors in the Premiership Rugby Cup, while India upset England in the Second One Day International of the women’s cricket.
As usual, we look at three big winning spread bets bringing savvy punters joy.
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
SCOTLAND V UKRAINE – CROSS-BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 0)
Scotland moved to the top of their Nations League group as they overcame a series of missed chances to finally make the most of their dominance and secure a 3-0 victory over visiting Ukraine, who had knocked the Scots out of the World Cup play-offs just months ago.
It was a much worse performance from the visitors than on that occasion, and they were not even able to get a shot on target this time around, while the Tartan Army were celebrating Lyndon Dykes’ double in the last ten minutes of the game, adding gloss to the win that was ultimately secured when John McGinn broke the resistance with the opener on the 70-minute mark.
But where was the profit to be found for spread betting punters? In terms of Cross-Bookings, the home side produced an assured and disciplined display in more ways than one and received zero bookings. Although the Ukrainians received a total of five yellow cards, the nature of the market meant a make-up of zero, meaning punters who decided to sell on the opening spread of 510 – 590 would have been left with 510x their wager!
GLOUCESTER V WORCESTER – GLOUCESTER MULTI-POINTS (SETTLED AT 490)
In the rugby union, the opening match in Pool A of the Premiership Rugby Cup was a repeat of last season's semi-final, but a lot has happened since Worcester beat Gloucester on their way to lifting the trophy in May.
A makeshift Worcester began their defence with a 49-21 defeat here, with the hosts starting well and racing into a 14-0 lead before Harri Doel and Finn Theobald-Thomas tries drew the Warriors level. However, Jack Reeves, Jack Clement, Tom Seabrook and a Freddie Thomas double took the Cherry and Whites clear despite Oli Morris' consolation score.
But where was the profit for bettors? In terms of the Gloucester Multi-Points market, a settlement of 490 meant that that those selling on the opening spread of 870 – 957 could have attained a 380x return on their opening stake.
ENGLAND (W) V INDIA (W) – ENGLAND (W)/INDIA (W) (SETTLED AT -88)
And finally, in the women’s cricket, India completed their first ODI series win in England since 1999. Harmanpreet Kaur hit 143 not out from 111 balls to guide India to an 88-run victory. After being put in to bat, India scored an imposing 333-5, the highest total England have ever conceded in a home ODI.
Captain Harmanpreet struck 18 fours and four sixes in her innings, supported by Harleen Deol's 58. Renuka Singh Thakur then starred with the ball, taking 4-57 as England were bowled out for 245 in another disappointing performance. Danni Wyatt and Amy Jones steered England to 167-4, before Wyatt's dismissal for 65 in the 30th over sparked a collapse of four wickets for just 16 runs.
But where was the betting profit? For those that backed India for the upset and sold at the opening spread of 14 – 24 on the England/India Supremacy market, the negative -88 make-up meant those punters would be left with 102x their opening stake!
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
