Daily Spread Betting Round-up
Wednesday night was an action-packed day (and night) of sport, with another exciting round of midweek Premier League fixtures the standout events. Erling Haaland continued to showcase his seemingly unstoppable form by netting a second consecutive hat-trick, while Liverpool snatched a controversial 98th-minute winner, and Arsenal continued their perfect start to stay top of the league.
In The Hundred, Josh Little's five-wicket haul and a half-century from Wayne Madsen earned Manchester Originals a spot in the men's Hundred eliminator with a six-wicket victory over Oval Invincibles.
Among the other sport, the US Open action continued at Flushing Meadows, with some of the key stories being Serena Williams beating the second seed to continue her farewell tournament before retirement, and Britain’s young talent Jack Draper dominating Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets to reach round three.
As usual, we look at three big winning spread bets from Wednesday’s action.
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
MAN CITY V NOTTINGHAM FOREST – GOALS X CORNERS X BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 660)
The defending champions have shown a mixed bag of scintillating attacking play together with some defensive vulnerabilities at times, but the constant seems to be that you just can’t stop Erling Haaland scoring. Heading into the match with an identical record to club legend Sergio Aguero’s scoring form in his first four matches for the club, the Norwegian even managed to surpass that, scoring his second consecutive hat-trick.
It was an utterly dominant display in all aspects from City, and they ended up with a haul of six goals, ten corners, but no bookings. This was significant for punters betting on the Goals x Corners x Bookings market. With Forest producing one corner and one booking, the market make-up was settled at 660.
With a pre-match spread of 1275 – 1475 predicting a much higher make-up, bettors who decided to take the plunge and sell on the spread will have been celebrating a 615x return on their opening wager!
MANCHESTER ORIGINALS V OVAL INVINCIBLES – SIXES SQUARED (SETTLED AT 81)
Both sides came into this one knowing victory would see them clinch a meeting with London Spirit on Friday for the right to face Trent Rockets in the final at Lord's.
Josh Little returned the best figures in the men's Hundred, taking 5-13 from his 20 balls, while Sam Billings' half-century guided the visitors to a competitive 143-9. Wayne Madsen's unbeaten fifty and late heroics from Paul Walter saw Originals home with a ball to spare.
However, in terms of spread betting, one of the key profitable markets was the Sixes Squared market. With a pre-match spread of 195 – 222, punters who decided to sell would have been celebrating a 114x return on their stake.
DRAPER V AUGER ALIASSIME – DRAPER TO WIN 3-0 (SETTLED AT 100)
Britain’s youngster Jack Draper has had a breakout year on the ATP Tour, establishing himself as one of the best up-and-coming talents, and after starting the year outside of the top-200, he will now find himself at least in the top 50 at the conclusion of the US Open.
In this second-round clash he faced Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, a top-10 seed and seen as a potential Grand Slam winner, even in this fortnight. However, recent shaky form meant that Draper was still fancied to at least provide a stern examination.
It got much better than that though, and the 20-year-old thoroughly dominated his more established opponent to secure a comfortable 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 triumph in straight sets. With a Draper To Win 3-0 pre-match market spread at 5.2 – 13.4, the 100 settlement meant that bettors who decided to buy would have been left with 86.6x their opening wager!
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
