Daily Spread Betting Round-up

Weekend Winning Bets 01.08.2022

A massive weekend of football saw the return of the Championship, Liverpool overcoming Man City in the not-so-‘friendly’ Charity Shield, and of course it all ‘came home’ with the Lionesses winning EURO 2022 at Wembley by defeating Germany in extra-time for their first-ever EURO trophy.

Away from the football, Commanche Falls retained his title at odds of 25/1 to become the first horse to pick up back-to-back victories at the Stewards’ Cup since Sky Diver in 1967 and 1968.

With the Lionesses’ historic win creating a mood of winners and glory, we look at some of the spread betting market make-ups from this weekend that would certainly have left lucky punters also celebrating.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

LIVERPOOL V MAN CITY – DARWIN NUNEZ SUB PGM (SETTLED AT 90)

In what was billed to be the showdown between Liverpool and City’s two new star strikers Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland, it was the Uruguayan Nunez who had the first bragging rights of the season by scoring the decisive third goal in the 90th minute.

Having only come onto the pitch as a sub in the 59th minute, the opening spread on Nunez Sub PGMs stood as low as 0-0.5 at one point, so punters with some foresight (or faith) who bought at that point would have been rewarded with a 89.5x return on their opening wager.

All eyes will now turn on the return of the Premier League next week, and the Haaland – Nunez goalscoring battle looks to be an exciting one for the foreseeable future.

ENGLAND (W) V GERMANY (W) – CHLOE KELLY PLAYER PERFORMANCE (SETTLED AT 110)

With the stage set for the Lionesses to make history at Wembley – a year after the men’s side fell at the final hurdle in the men’s EUROs – those with faith in the home side might have had the conundrum of deciding which of the players would be the heroine leading the side to the trophy.

Conventional wisdom may have suggested punters would have been inclined to put their faith and money on the standout goalscoring performers of the tournament like Beth Mead, it ended up being Chloe Kelly (who started on the substitutes bench) who decided the outcome of the final in the 110th minute of extra-time, bundling home after a goalmouth scramble.

Punters who backed Chloe Kelly Player Performance and decided to buy at 0-0.5 would have been ultimately rewarded with 109.5x their opening stake – and even more reasons to join in the tournament-winning celebrations.

CARDIFF V NORWICH – CORNERS x BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 880)

With Championship favourites Norwich kicking off their campaign with an away trip to the Welsh capital to face Cardiff, the 1-0 loss was certainly not the way the Canaries would have liked to begin the season, but the match had plenty more drama than the solitary goal.

Both sides ended with 10 men in an ill-tempered affair, with a total of 8 cards being awarded (7 of them in the second half), and 2 of those 8 cards being red for two yellow-card offenses each for each side.

With 8 total corners in the match as well, the Corners x Bookings market settled at 880. For punters who bought at an opening spread of 430-490, a 390x return on their opening stake was a huge win – perhaps even lightening the mood of any disappointed punters who had bought this market but also backed Norwich.

GOODWOOD STEWARDS’ CUP – COMMANCHE FALLS (SETTLED AT 100)

And finally, there was another exciting weekend of racing which was capped off in the action at Goodwood as Commanche Falls, ridden by Connor Beasley, made history by becoming the first horse to win back-to-back Stewards’ Cups since Sky Diver 54 years ago.

That fact may have deterred the punters from backing the horse that won the race last year, but any doubt was proven wrong. Punters who did retain faith in the triumph and decided to buy at an opening spread of 7-9 would have been left with returns of 91x their opening wager!

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past weekend, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
