WEEKEND BIG WINNING BETS

After another weekend of top class sports, as always in our daily betting blog we run through the big spread betting winners from the weekend!

Some of the key action came from a chaotic match week in the Premier League football, a Serbian talent was crowned at the Next Gen ATP tennis finals and a legend added to his career story in the UK Championship snooker.

Here we run through some of those big winning spread bets.

Please remember Spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.

MAN CITY V SPURS – GOALS X CORNERS X BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 8,640)

We start with the football betting action in focus and the match between Man City and Spurs proved why it was billed as a heavyweight battle of attacking football - leading to a massive make-up on one of our spread betting multi-markets.

After goals from Son-Heung Min (curiously including an own goal from the South Korean), Phil Foden, Giovani Lo Celso, Jack Grealish and Dejan Kulusevski, The match at the Etihad ended up finishing with a 3-3 scoreline which would have likely pleased the visitors more, especially considering a dubious late decision where an initial advantage was pulled up for a foul - with City players incensed at a potential 1v1 opportunity to win the match being stopped.

In terms of football spread bettors, placing a buy bet on the Goals x Corners x Bookings multi-market proved an extremely profitable choice. With the starting spread at 1,775 - 1,950, the six match goals, massive eighteen corners and eight bookings meant a make-up of 8,640 and a big winning buy bet of 6,690x their stake!

NEXT GEN FINALS: FILS V MEDJEDOVIC - FIL/MED POINTS SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT -23)

Next we move to the tennis action with the 'NEXT-GEN' ATP Finals where the final match of the 2023 ATP season took place between young Frenchman Arthur Fils - the tournament favourite - and Serbian youngster (and Novak Djokovic's prodigy) Hamad Medjedovic.

After an initial round-robin group stage, both players came through their semi-final matches to enter the final undefeated in the tournament. Fils was expected to have the advantage due to being the only player in the field to have already won a title on the main tour and being the highest ranked by far, but Medjedovic did not agree with that particular script.

The Serb had impressed crowds all week with his power hitting and all-round aggressive game, and he was ultimately too strong in the important moments in this one as he managed to defeat Fils in five sets. It will now be fascinating to see what these two talents will showcase next year on the main tour, and whether this was just the start of a future rivalry.

Spread betting punters who placed a sell bet on the Fils/Medjedovic Points Supremacy spread at 3 - 7 saw a negative make-up of -23 and a return of 26x their stake.

O'SULLIVAN V DING JUNHUI - O'SULLIVAN 10-7 (SETTLED AT 100)

And finally, we finish with the UK Championship snooker action from Sunday where the legendary Ronnie O'Sullivan secured a record-extending eighth UK Championship against China's Ding Junhui. O'Sullivan's triumph made him the oldest ever winner of the tournament, two days before he turns 48 and three decades on from also being the youngest player to win the UK Championship, aged 17.

Although the match seemed delicately poised at 4-4 heading into Sunday's final session, 'The Rocket' pulled clear with four half-centuries and two centuries to secure the £250,000 top prize. Interestingly, this was the second successive year that China's Ding has lost in the final by a three-frame margin, albeit this contest was markedly different to his painful defeat by Mark Allen 12 months ago, when he let a 6-1 lead slip.

For those that had the foresight of that scoreline repeating itself though, placing a buy bet on O'Sullivan winning 10-7 with the pre-match spread being 8.3 - 12.5, the make-up of 100 meant a 87.5x return on punters' opening stake.

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
