Daily Spread Betting Round-up
There is only one place to start this weekend and that is Anfield where Liverpool ran riot as they inflicted a 7-0 defeat over bitter rivals Manchester United.
Across the rest of sport, 1/7 shots St Helens were beaten by Leeds Rhinos in a fractious game on Friday night, whilst Nemean Lion won the Grade 2 Premier Novices’ Hurdle at Kelso on Saturday for Kerry Lee and Richard Patrick.
Finally, the darts UK Open was won by 150/1 outsider Andrew Gilding as he beat Michael van Gerwen in the final, with 400/1 Adam Gawlas reaching the semis and earning each-way backers a juicy winner.
It was a superb weekend of sport and as ever, we have rounded it off with three big winning bets from the past few days.
Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.
LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER UNITED – LIVERPOOL HOTSHOTS (SETTLED AT 150)
If you sided with the Reds there were big winning bets everywhere you looked yesterday. Buys on Supremacy, Total Goal Minutes and Goals Cubed paid out at 6.75x, 297x and 285x their stake respectively.
However, the market we are going to focus on also handsomely rewarded buyers and that was Liverpool Hotshots which was priced at 27-31 ahead of kick-off. In the Hotshots market a group of players make up your team (here Liverpool had Mo Salah, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott) and you get 25 points for every goal scored.
With Gakpo, Nunez and Salah all bagging a brace this market settled at 150, earning buyers a win of 119x their stake on a record-breaking day at Anfield.
BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX – SAFETY CAR x 50 (SETTLED AT 0)
The Bahrain Grand Prix kicked off the 2023 F1 season and once again Max Verstappen found himself on top of the podium with Sergio Perez coming home in second to ensure Red Bull kicked off the year in style.
Already there are noises that Red Bull will not be caught again this year, but there was a heart-warming story for fans as Fernando Alonso came third to secure just his fourth podium finish since 2013.
The biggest spread win of the day, however, would have been a sell on the Safety Car x 50 spread which was priced at 57-65 as the lights turned green in Sakhir. Last year in Bahrain Pierre Gasly’s AlphaTauri caught fire which prompted the safety car to come out. This year, despite three cars failing to make the chequered flag, the safety car wasn’t required and sellers on the Safety Car x 50 spread won 57x their stake.
ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL – KURT KITAYAMA WIRE 2 WIRE (SETTLED AT 200)
On Friday we highlighted Jon Rahm’s first round leader spread as a big winning bet, but there was more profit for buyers if they were able to land on the Kurt Kitayama Wire 2 Wire market after the American finished one shot ahead of Harris English and Rory McIlroy yesterday.
Kitayama was always in contention from the first day when he earned 20 points on the spread for finishing the round in third place. The next two days saw him back to the clubhouse in second place which added another 100 points to the spread and by going on to win the event with a level par final round, he added an 80 point bonus to the spread ensuring a final make up of 200.
Before teeing off on Thursday the Wire 2 Wire spread on Kitayama was 25-4.5, but the man from Chico in California rewarded buyers with a whopping win of 195.5x their stake.
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
