Daily Spread Betting Round-up

Weekend's Big Winning Bets

big-winning-bets-130323-landing-page-header

It was a belting weekend of sport with France and Ireland recording huge wins in the Six Nations and only a battered and bruised England stand between the latter and Grand Slam glory. In the Premier League Leicester City were the only side in the bottom six to be beaten whilst at the top Arsenal maintained their five-point lead over Manchester City.

There was action in rugby league, cricket and golf where Scottie Scheffler won the Players Championship and $4.5m. Whilst there may not have been purses like that on offer, there were still some markets where canny punters won big over the weekend and we have reviewed the best of them below.

Please remember that unlike fixed odds betting, when spread betting losses can exceed deposits.

LEEDS RHINOS v WAKEFIELD TRINITY – MATCH CROSS-POINTS (SETTLED AT 0)

They say good things come in threes and sellers on Match Cross-Points on Wakefield’s last three matches have landed a maximum win. Not since Dewsbury in the 1970s have a top-flight side gone three matches without scoring but Wakefield were nilled once again on Friday away at Leeds as they were against Huddersfield and Wigan in the previous weeks.

Sellers won 370x their stake in the clash with Wigan, 425x their stake in Trinity’s 8-0 defeat to Huddersfield and with Friday’s spread of 329-366, sellers came up trumps again winning 329x their stake as Rhinos won 26-0.

In the 1940s Featherstone went four top-flight matches without scoring a point, Trinity head to Salford on Sunday hoping not to equal their West Yorkshire rival’s record.

INDIA v AUSTRALIA – INDIA 1st INNINGS RUNS (SETTLED AT 571)

At the time of writing, the fourth Test in the series between India and Australia appears to be heading for a draw after both sides hit mammoth first innings totals.

The Aussies batted first and a superb 180-run knock from Usman Khawaja set the tourists up for a score of 480. Enter the Indian batting lineup and our trading team set their run line at 254-269 as the hosts looked to bounce back having lost the third Test by nine wickets.

Shubman Gill scored 128 and Virat Kohli hit a sublime knock of 186 to guide the Indians to a final total of 571/9. They could well have added more runs were it not for the injury suffered by Kolkata Knight Riders’ Shreyas Iyer.

It was still a good few days for buyers on the India 1st Innings Runs spread though as they won 302x their original stake.

THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP – RORY MCILROY FINISHING POSITION (SETTLED AT 102)

Rory McIlroy ended 2022 on top of the world, but his weekend at the Players ended before it had begun with the Northern Irishman missing the cut for the second time in three years and the sixth time in 13 years at Sawgrass.

Despite winning the event in 2019, his record at the Players is far from stellar, but the spread on his Finishing Position was 25-30 and he was amongst the fixed odds favourites at a price of 7/1.

However, the 33-year-old came into the clubhouse after the first day four shots over and despite performing better on the Friday, it wasn’t enough to salvage his weekend as he missed the cut at an event for the first time since August.

With a final score of +5 after the two days, McIlroy was left with a finishing position of 102 as buyers on the spread won 72x their stake.
