landing-page-weekend-150724

After another weekend of dramatic sporting action where Spain were celebrating more than one massive victory, as always in our daily betting blog we run through the big spread betting winners from the weekend!

Some of the key action came from the Euro 2024 final in Berlin, the men's Wimbledon final in London and Rugby Union friendly action as Ireland secured a dramatic win over South Africa.

Here we run through some of those big winning spread bets.

EURO 2024 FINAL: SPAIN v ENGLAND – TOTAL GOAL MINUTES (SETTLED AT 206)

We start with the football betting action from Euro 2024 and football not coming home as England suffered their second consecutive Euros final heartbreak, falling to a dramatic late 2-1 defeat to Spain. La Furia Roja were the outstanding team throughout the tournament and ultimately deserved victory, but Gareth Southgate's side will inevitably be rueing what could have been.

The first half of the final was inevitably a cagey affair with neither side seemingly willing to take any risks, and passed without major incident. However, the match exploded into life not long after the break as Nico Williams put Spain ahead with a measured finish past Jordan Pickford.

Having already shown their penchant for coming from behind in this tournament, the Three Lions refused to lay down and grabbed an equaliser after an excellent long-range finish into the bottom corner from substitute Cole Palmer around 20 minutes from time, but the drama wasn't ending there.

With the match seemingly headed for extra-time, Marc Cucurella drilled in an excellent low cross which was tapped in by Mikel Oyarzabal in the 86th minute, with Spain holding on thereafter to secure the victory and the trophy.

For football spread bettors, those deciding to place a buy bet on the Total Goal Minutes market proved to be profitable. With two late goals boosting the make-up of 206 from a starting spread of 110 - 120, buyers returned 86x their initial wager.

WIMBLEDON FINAL - CARLOS ALCARAZ v NOVAK DJOKOVIC - ALC/DJO MATCH SUPREMACY (SETTLED AT 25)

Next we move to the tennis action from Wimbledon and what seemed to be a true 'changing of the guard' moment as Carlos Alcaraz defended his men's title at SW19 with an incredibly dominant victory over the great Serb Novak Djokovic.

Having defeated Djokovic in five dramatic and gruelling sets 12 months ago and looking far from his best at many stages of this year's tournament, many expected this to be another tight affair between the two players, but the Spanish wonderkid Alcaraz proved his dominance as he found another gear to brutalise Djokovic 6-2 6-2 7-6.

In truth, it could have been even more dominant as Alcaraz had three match points on serve at 6-2 6-2 5-4, but despite an improbable late comeback surge by Djokovic to force a tie-break, the young man from Murcia held firm to secure the title in straight sets.

For tennis punters betting on the Alcaraz/Djokovic Match Supremacy, a make-up of 25 from a pre-match spread of 1-4 meant a return of 21x on buy bets.

RUGBY UNION: SOUTH AFRICA v IRELAND - TOTAL TRY MINUTES (SETTLED AT 14)

And finally, we finish with the weekend's rugby union action and a dramatic match between South Africa and Ireland which saw the visitors come away with a 1-point victory, 25-24 in what was a penalty-goal fest at KIngs Park Stadium in Durban.

Despite beginning as underdogs, the Irish started much the better and scored the only try of the match on 14 minutes of the first half. This set them on their way to leading 16-6 at half-time, before a spirited comeback from the home side saw them winning the second half 18-9. However, that wasn't enough and the Irish held on for a single-point victory.

In terms of spread betting, punters who decided to place a sell bet on the Total Try Minutes market made good profit. With the starting spread at 226 - 244, a final make-up of just 14 from the match's solitary try meant a return of 212x their opening stake!
