big-winning-bets-landing-page-header-2

A busy weekend of sport ended with the Lionesses falling agonisingly short in the women’s World Cup final, a red-card filled Premier League matchweek, Novak Djokovic overcoming Carlos Alcaraz in a marathon epic in Cincinnati, the conclusion of the BMW Championship golf and more.

But what were the big winning spread bets? As always, we dive into the action and pick out three of the victorious wagers!

WREXHAM V SWINDON – TOTAL GOAL MINUTES (SETTLED AT 495)

While there was plenty of drama in the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester Utd among the losing sides, it was difficult to find a more exciting encounter across the Football Leagues than Wrexham’s trip to Swindon in League 2.

With Hollywood-star ownership, the Welsh side certainly seem to have some of that stardust within the team and Saturday’s meeting with Swindon was yet another incredible story in the growing list of memorable matches involving The Red Dragons. Falling to a 1-4 deficit by half time, it looked to be a nightmare weekend for the side, but that was only the beginning of the story.

After two quickfire goals to reduce the arrears to just a single goal not long after the restart, the home side once again conceded and looked to have run out of steam for any further comeback. However, in true Hollywood fashion, they somehow managed to grab two goals in stoppage time to secure a 5-5 draw!

This proved to be excellent for bettors who decided to buy Total Goal Minutes at the pre-match spread of 148 – 158, with a huge make-up of 495 meaning a tidy 337x return on their opening wager. It wasn’t so excellent for Wrexham ‘keeper Ben Foster though, who has since re-retired. Whether that decision was influenced by conceding five here will remain a mystery.

ALCARAZ V DJOKOVIC – TOTAL POINTS (SETTLED AT 260)

As soon as it became clear that the top two players in the world would be facing off for the Cincinnati Masters title, tennis fans were licking their lips at the prospect of another generational classic so soon after the Wimbledon final in which Carlos Alcaraz vanquished Novak Djokovic in epic fashion.

However, they probably didn’t quite expect the incredible three-set battle that was to come here, and it was ultimately Djokovic who gained revenge 5-7 7-6 7-6 in a marathon 3 hours and 50 minutes – the longest match in the history of the tournament.

The young Spaniard rallied from 4-2 down in the first set to storm through and grab it and then was a break ahead in the second, but Djokovic was not to be denied – although he too faltered late on in the third as Alcaraz stormed back to force a deciding breaker.

For savvy tennis punters, Total Points was again an Ace buy, with a final make-up of 260 from a starting spread of 153 – 158 meaning a 102x their initial stake – game, set, match & championship!

BMW CHAMPIONSHIP – VIKTOR HOVLAND TOURNAMENT WINNER (SETTLED AT 100)

Finally, we end with the golf action at the BMW Championship where there was an epic ending on Sunday. Viktor Hovland grabbed the trophy as he mixed 10 birdies with just a single bogey in a stunning final-round 61, setting the course record and earning a two-shot win ahead of world number one Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler had held at least a share of the lead for most of the day but unfortunately for him saw his hopes ended with a penultimate-hole bogey, ultimately ending his effort tied-second on -15 with Matt Fitzpatrick and Rory McIlroy a further three strokes back in fourth.

For punters that decided to back Hovlund for his epic comeback win, his Tournament Winner spread was as low as 2.4 – 5.9, meaning a return of 94.1x for buyers – hole in one!

Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
