Daily Spread Betting Round-up
Another weekend of dramatic sporting action was highlighted by an exciting Hungarian F1 Grand Prix as Oscar Piastri won his maiden race, Xander Schauffele secured victory in the golf action at the Open, Arthur Fils secured his first ATP 500 title in the tennis and much more, and as always in our daily betting blog we run through the big spread betting winners from the weekend!
Please remember Spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.
THE OPEN 2024 – HOTSHOTS: BIG GUNS (SETTLED AT 100)
We start with the golf betting action from The Open as Xander Schauffele followed up back-to-back birdies at the sixth and seventh holes with four more in a six-hole stretch down the back nine as his final-round 65 secured a second major championship win in the same season.
In what was a highly-contested tournament heading into the final stages, Schauffele went into the final round at Royal Troon as one of six players sharing second, a shot behind Billy Horschel, but took control in the aforementioned six-hole stretch.
Several interesting milestones were also notable - Schauffele became the first player since Rory McIlroy in 2014 to win the PGA Championship and The Open in same season, the first player to claim his first two major wins in same season since Jordan Spieth in 2015, and the seventh American winner at Royal Troon in the last eight Opens held there.
It was also the first time Americans have won all four majors in the same year since 1982. For golf spread bettors, those deciding to place a buy bet on our Hotshots - (Big Guns) market proved to be profitable. With Schauffele's win boosting the make-up of 100 from a starting spread of 59 - 63, buyers returned 37x their initial wager.

F1 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX - LANDO NORRIS/OSCAR PIASTRI (SETTLED AT -12)
Next we move to the F1 action from the Hungaroring in Budapest as the 2024 Formula 1 season produced yet another captivating race which has extended the recent invigoration of competitiveness in motorsport's premier class after several years of often all-too predictable dominance by Red Bull and Max Verstappen.
After the resurgent McLaren had secured a front-row lockout in qualifying on Saturday, the next question was whether the Papaya cars could turn that success into a race win, or in a perfect scenario a 1-2 finish for drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri along with maximum constructor points.
Ultimately, Australian youngster Piastri secured his maiden win but in controversial circumstances as an apparent misjudgement in the pit strategy led Norris being asked to move aside to allow Piastri back ahead after the Aussie had managed to get ahead of the Brit at the start of the race.
For F1 punters betting on the Norrie/Piastri market and envisaging Piastri coming out on top, a make-up of -12 from a pre-match spread of 7.5 - 10.5 meant a return of 19.5x on sell bets.

ATP HAMBURG FINAL - ARTHUR FILS POINTS (SETTLED AT 132)
And finally, we finish with the weekend's tennis action where home favourite Alexander Zverev took on young Frenchman Arthur Fils in the clay-court ATP 500 event in Hamburg, and Fils came out unexpectedly on top in a dramatic deciding set tie-break with some inspired hitting amongst a hostile environment.
In what was an incredible performance of refusing to buckle under pressure, Fils somehow managed to save 21/22 break points that he faced over the course of the match, with nine in the first set alone. Seemingly bringing his best tennis for last despite some physical difficulties, Fils blitzed Zverev 7-1 in the third set tie-break to secure the trophy, 6-3 3-6 7-6.
In terms of spread betting, punters who decided to place a buy bet on the Fils Points market made excellent profit thanks to the Frenchman's fighting effort. With the starting spread at 66 - 70, a final make-up of 132 meant a return of 62x their opening stake!
