Daily Spread Betting Round-up
Punters enjoyed yet another enthralling weekend of sports action including an 80-1 shot winning the Queen Elizabeth stakes at Ascot, Carlos Alcaraz winning his first grass-court title at the Queen’s Club, England Under-21s continuing their strong start in the Euros and much more!
Read on below to find out more about three of the most eye-catching spread betting wins from this weekend.
Please remember Spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit. They may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you fully understand the risks involved.
QUEEN ELIZABETH STAKES (ASCOT) – RACE WINNER: KHAADEM (SETTLED AT 100)
There was a huge Ascot shock in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes as Khaadem, an 80-1 outsider, became the biggest-priced winner in the race's history! Ridden by Jamie Spencer, it pipped Sacred (9-1) to the line, with 11-4 favourite Highfield Princess finishing third.
In what was the legendary Frankie Dettori’s farewell race meeting, Khaadem’s success ended up taking many of the headlines – but how profitable was the win for spread bettors?
With a starting spread for the race win standing at just 1 – 3, punters backing the outsider would have been left with a 97x return on their opening ‘buy’ wager! Our ‘SP of Winner’ spread market was also profitable for buyers, with a make-up of 80 meaning a return of 69.5x on the pre-race spread of 9 – 10.5.
ENGLAND U-21 V ISRAEL U-21 – GOALS X CORNERS X BOOKINGS (SETTLED AT 240)
It was another strong performance from the Young Lions at the Under-21 Euros as they topped their group with a 2-0 win over Israel. Goals in both halves from Anthony Gordon and Emile Smith-Rowe secured the points, and confidence will be high amongst the group of a successful tournament.
However, where was the profit to be had for spread betting punters? The Goals x Corners x Bookings multi-market was certainly a good place to start for sellers – a make-up of just 240 from a pre-match spread of 1,075 – 1,200 meant a return of 835x their opening stake!
ALCARAZ V DE MINAUR – TOTAL POINTS (SETTLED AT 122)
Carlos Alcaraz began the week on unsteady footing with the unfamiliarity of grass court movement, but the Spanish wonderkid showed once again he can adapt and overcome and ended the week with regaining the number one ranking (and top seeding at Wimbledon) along with his first grass-court title with a straight sets win over Australia’s Alex de Minaur.
While the Aussie started confidently and put Alcaraz under some early pressure, the match was ultimately decided in the ninth game of the first set as Alcaraz pulled out a break of serve and duly held his own to secure the set 6-4, before winning the second by the same margin.
For punters, those expecting a fairly short match and electing to sell on the Total Points spread made 20x their opening wager at a pre-match Total Points spread of 142 – 147 and a make-up of 122 – vamos!
Please note that these are examples of winning bets from the past week, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
